Through the Dardanelles to the Gallipoli shore,
we surfed the rolls of the waves with our lighters and sweeps.

Unbeknown,
our fate;
not only by the hands and ammunitions of the Ottomans,
but by dysentery, typhoid, gonorrhoea, rheumatic fever,
overconfidence,
inexperience,
insufficient artillery and equipment,
inaccurate maps,
ill planed goals
and pitiable intelligence,
among other deficiencies...

Many thousands,
on both sides,
died...
Needlessly...

After Egypt,
with our minds and bodies defeated,
we left the surfing
to the dolphins, porpoises and monks.

Then took our rolls, to home...
