Nikhil's Apartment, Two Weeks Later, Saturday

"You don't want to make any changes?" he was flabbergasted.

"Why would I want to change anything?" Rohini asked as she walked towards him. They were in Nikhil's penthouse discussing about their future lives together. The arrangements per se

"This is so ... mundane" Nikhil stated as he waved his hand across the length of the hall. "Frankly speaking, I have never paid much attention earlier to the decor. Or anything. The interior designer suggested this and that, and I simply agreed and footed the Bill."

"Yet you gave me such a hard time?" Rohini smiled gently as she pulled his cheek.

This earned her a full throat-ed laugh from him as he pulled her into his arm. "You need to realise that you are priceless, Ro. Certainly not just anyone. And you were such a challenge then. There I was, trying to hate every women under the sun; and there you were, pushing all boundaries and making me realise that most people were indeed good. Do you see what kind of  dilemma I was in then? On top, you were knocking at the doors of my heart unknowingly for both of us, leading to those vehement and sarcastic rebuttals. I was just protecting myself."

Rohini smiled against his chest as he kissed the top of her head - "I too had often wondered then what mess I was landing myself into ... No wonder I tried to push to project to Santhanam."

Nikhil smiled against her hair, smelling in the floral essence of her shampoo - "I am glad I found you Rohini. Your presence in my life outweighs everything that I have lost since childhood"

They stood there for a while, in each other's arms, looking out of the window. Rohini snuggled deeper into his arms and sighed - "Nikhil, I am sorry whatever happened to your Brother and ..."

He cut her through - "No, please don't feel sorry for them. There are so many people out there who need your empathy and sympathy, but not them"

They settled down on the sofa pressed against each other.

"Abheek did not need to do whatever he did. He had everything, including my Ajja's trust. And faith. All this has been such a great blow to the old man that it straight landed him in the ICU. I may not show how I feel for my Grandfather or talk much about it, but I love him to the core. That's why I am greatly distressed at the discourtesy that Abheek and his wife had done to him. After everything that he did for them.

As for Nisha, I would like to know what exactly was she lacking in her life? A purpose? Is that why her idleness spawned all those devilish plots and more? Stewed so much ugliness and hatred within her that she didn't wait to think of the lives that she was going to destroy because of her pettiness? Is there any any forgiveness that could ever be bestowed on her? Not by me at least. What she did to us ... "

His eyes glazed over as he looked at some discreet spot on the wall. Rohini placed her palm on his chest, her attention drawn to his face that now showed signs of affliction. She understood how difficult it was for him. They were was his family after all !

He looked at her then, hints of tears in his eyes, his voice sombre - "Why did they do this? Is wealth so much more important than relations? Is power so necessary for survival? We lost our child because of them Rohini ... there is no mercy!

I got to know yesterday from some source that Abheek will be collaborating with a friend on a techno venture soon. Some other place. Also got to hear that he has filed for divorce ... I really don't know where that female is and I don't care. But, but, but ... I want to file a case against her too, irrespective of her status. She deserves to be locked up."
