I just got him. Why do we have to part ways all the time? Could fate be any crueler than that? I couldn't even picture him a foot away from that monster who almost took my life just seconds ago. And now he has something even worthier than my own life with him.

"Geez Curly. I get it. But pull yourself together. He can take care of himself. In fact police will be here soon enough. They know we are here. You need to be strong now." Liam must have felt I was trembling against his chest.

The passenger door must have left open because he didn't need to put me down to open it. He lowered me on to the front seat carefully without making the damages worse than they were already. After buckling me up he got in to the driver seat. Before he ignites the engine I stopped him, touching the back of his hand though it hurt to stretch the tiniest muscle in this condition. "What? He asked in dilemma, clearly knowing what was coming.

"Please just this once, for me" I tried one last time.

His face was disturbed with decisions he had to make. "What do you want me to do? Go back in there? Try to understand Curly, he would kill me if I go back there instead of taking you to the hospital. And for the first time in my life I wouldn't blame him even if he did so. He treasures your life more than anything. You, of all people should know that" he clarified.

"It goes the same...other way around too Liam. You, of all people should understand that" I said in opposition "If I could, I wouldn't be here wasting time asking for your help. Just stop him from going after him. Please" I knew my voice was weak but I made him convinced.

"Okay. You sure you'll be okay. Otherwise-"

"I'll be fine. I promise. There's no time to waste so please" he got out even before I finished.

"Keep this with you" he tossed his mobile on to my lap "keep the doors closed and locked. Am I clear?"

"Yeah. Hurry and be careful okay. Just stop him and drag him over" I said as he closed the door behind. Tears were oozing from the corners of my eyes.

He ran pass the meadow and vanished into the woods behind. Am I selfish to ask him to go? What if something bad happen to him? Would I be able to face Melanie? No I will dwell on the positive. Nothing will happen. Liam seems to know the place inside out. That was a plus. And he will convince Jay to let go. And it is good thing that I am here alone, all the more reason for Jay to come back.

Chills ran through my arms giving me goose bumps in the cold air. It was past midnight I assumed. I unbuckled myself. I reached out and checked the doors, rear and side windows. I fumbled for some sharp tool to keep close in case I had to be prepared. My hand caught a ratchet wrench and it was lighter and easy to handle. And there I found a huge water bottle under the driving seat which can be compared to heaven as I was so dehydrated. I kept the wrench on my lap with Liam's mobile and gulped it all in.

I must have been sedated. That was only possible explanation for how weak I felt. As far as I could tell my body was only sore because I was thrashed. Other than the left side of the rib cage, everything seemed intact internally most likely. There weren't any severe bleedings rather than few cuts, scratches and some contusive wounds. Most of the skin was covered in different shades of purple blemishes.

It has been fifteen minutes since Liam left. Both of them were nowhere to be seen still. What might be happening out there right now? Did Liam change his mind and went on with Jay. No, if Liam found Jay he'd be here first thing since I'm here unprotected.

Liam said that the police was already informed where we were. Why aren't they here yet? There was no time to waste and wonder. So I dialed 911 again. But before it got connected I heard the siren from a far. Finally hope.
