We stopped in front of Liam's house. I've known Devin for some time now. He never have brought up his personal details when hanging out with us. I knew Mr. Golan is a fine real estate agent and Mrs. Golan happened to be a well renowned lawyer who works as the legal officer in their own real estate agency. I knew that much because Tia once told me. Other than that I knew nothing.

When Liam stopped his vehicle in the driveway I was thinking whether he changed his mind letting us crash in his place and pulled in to hotel or something. Their house was a perfect mansion, without a doubt, which I have only seen on HGTV. Liam opened the door for us.

The inside was bright white and so welcoming. It was surprisingly calm, like we were the only ones in there. "Where are your parents?" My voice echoed.

"New York, for business stuff...suit yourself at home." He gestured us in and went up the staircase stretching from the left side of the living room.

I turned to Melanie "Mels, Tia doesn't know we're here?"

She eyed me giving a playful grin "I texted her. She'll be late... Devin texted back asking us to crash here."

"But..."

She huffed stepping up to me "Yumi, don't you dare try to go home tonight. Just tonight. Besides don't you ever feel lonely being all by yourself? Let's watch a movie for a change tonight. Devin has this amazing collection...."

I tried reasoning. Would I be able to call a cab at this hour? "I am tired, Mels. I have to get a shower and..."

"Apparently you can have it here too right? You know what. If Mrs. Golan was here, she would never let you leave. No matter how good your excuses are. She's so... persistent." seemed like Melanie was totally approved by her Mother-In-Law-to-be.

"But Tia will be here anytime soon, so we can head back then" I prompted.

"Mayumi!" She rebuked questioning me with her raised eyebrows, like I was missing something.

Still I was clueless "What?"

She grimaced in disbelief "They went on a date.... An actual date you know? You know what I mean?"

I finally got why they were so hesitant on giving them a call at least. Well what do I know anything about how couples work? "Okay... okay, so we're gonna spend the night here?"

"Yes" she seemed so comfortable being here. More like it was something she had done before.

"In these clothes?" I held my sleeves up. It was already sweaty, though the house was air conditioned.

"I think Mrs. Golan is an average size." She said cheerfully.

"Oh come on now. We can't just....." before I said it, Liam appeared from the huge staircase, saying "I had to go through mom's whole wardrobe...err" he threw us some fancy fabrics. Those were actually night gowns.

"These... still have price tags on them" I showed him the tags.

"Oh!! Sorry." He took it from me and tore out the tags and put in back on my hand, in a blink.

"No.... I didn't mean...I mean it's new..."

"Yup. She'll probably kill me if I leave you guys sleep on those clothes... so put them on as a huge favor to me." he winked at me and went back to the staircase. "Mel, suit yourself in kitchen okay... I'm gonna go get a shower... and show Curl-....err Yumi the visitor's bedroom." He went up again.

"Seriously, Mels?"

"Oh...come on..." she grabbed my wrist and led me past their living room. I was 100% sure that this was not her first time being her. It was five times bigger than my house back in Auburn'. The room which they considered as a visitor's bedroom was probably the size of my tiny apartment. Everything about this house was beyond luxurious.
