| Calum |

I’m frolicking in the fields of money, running to my money tree.

Hah. Who says money can’t grow on trees? You can only get it in Hoodville. That’s where the cool people are aka me. The dollar bills rain over my head and I giggle. Before I knew it, I was making money angels in them with the rainbow behind me.

I don’t ever wanna leave this paradise.

Calum, wake up!” a horrid noise awakens my slumber.

“Mum five more minutes...” I slurred trying to go back to Hoodville.

“No! You’re going to be late for your job interview again!”

“But it’s summer…” I stuff my head under my covers.

-Silence-

Hey, she actually gave up and with that I slowly fall back asleep.

Then I heard someone burst into the room and pull my covers off. Before I knew it, I get smacked in the side with a hard substance causing a horrible pain on my cheek. I jolt up, fully awake.

“Ow- what did you just hit me in the face with!?” my hand shot up to feel the burn.

“Frozen steak.” She shows the large slice up.

“Why?” I yell.

“I called your name many times to get ready and now it’s already getting late for the interview. You do this every single time but this time, you’re going to get there this time.” She scolds.

“But that doesn’t mean you have to wake me up with frozen meat!” I pout.

“5 minutes.” Is all she said before stepping out.

I groan and get out of bed lazily to go to the bathroom.

My mum isn’t always like this but she grows more and more impatient with me not getting up early for my work hunting that she’s finding more ways to wake me up. I guess smacking me in the face with a steak is todays.

I always apply for work or jobs around the city to save up for my own apartment and well I just really need the money for more things. Some people even call me cheap.

I’m still sleep deprived and miss my aim for the toilet. Oh ferk, guess I’ll have to clean that mess up later. I quickly brush my teeth and throw on my jeans and sneakers then got out for breakfast.

Only to find it all gone. My mom saw my reaction at no food on the table and said;

“Just go that breakfast bar or whatever that place you go to for now.” she was talking about Weenie Hut Jr’s.  She pinches my cheeks. Ugh not the cheeks!

“Okay whatever. Wish me luck.” I sigh while taking out my bike outside.

“I hope you get this one.” She says back. That’s what she always says.

“Love you.” I yell back riding my bike away into the street.

I go as fast as I can while taking in every view of the neighborhood. The summer heat blazes in my face and I only get that rush of excitement while that breeze swept around me.

“Hello Caleb!” Mrs. Minester greets me from her porch. She can never get my name right. Just last week she called me Cally then the week before that I was Column.

“Hello Mrs. Minester.” I reply back quickly.

“Going to another job interview, again?” she asks.

“Yeah-“ I look up ahead to find a brunette girl walking down the street until she notices me coming and her eyes widen. "Watch out!" That’s when I crash into her knocking her to the ground.

Curse you, Mrs. Minester!

“Watch where you’re going! Can’t you see I’m walking!?” her voice filled with anger while I just laid there on top of her.

“I- uh. I-I,” I stammered. I couldn’t even form a sentence. I stared down at her in awe with my jaw open trying to say something.

“Ew. Close your mouth if you’re not gonna says anything.” She let out a little cute laugh. With that, I shut my mouth closed.

“I-I’m so sorry about that. I didn’t mean to crash into you like that.” I managed to say.

“Of course you didn’t. It’s fine. I didn’t really get bruised or anything.” She gave me a small smile.

I was going to say something else when I realize I was still on top of her.

“Oh sorry.” I quickly get myself off her and get up offering my hand. She chuckles before taking it and standing up. I finally got a better look at her.  She was wearing denim shorts and a floral tank top with her hands on her hips, looking at me.

Who is she? I’ve never seen her in this neighborhood before.  I was going to ask her for her name when someone yells from the corner.

“Sabrina!” a voice calls out.

So that was her name?

Sabrina.

I could say it all day. It’s as beautiful as she already is.

“Coming!” she yells back before looking back at me. But who’s calling her out? It sounds like a guy. Does she have a boyfriend? Oh of course she would. What was I thinking?

“What’s taking you so long?” the guy comes up from behind.

Aaron.

My arch enemy.

Oh how I hate him on so many levels. Ever since we were 12, he’s been messing with me and usually trying to steal my ideas and everything just because he’s 2 years older.  The question for now is what is he doing with someone like her? But he seems a little old for her...

“Oh hi there, Calum.” He said in a monotone, like he always does when he sees me.

“Hi Aaron.” I mumble still trying to figure out what’s going on. Are they dating?

“Now Bri, we should really be getting back.” He says casually to Sabrina as if I wasn’t there anymore.

“Yeah of course. It was nice to meet you, Calum. Don’t run over anybody else with that death vehicle on wheels.” She gives me a crooked smile before walking off. I wave back at her, my smile quickly fades away when I see Aaron rolling his eyes at me from the corner of my eye.

I’ve never felt more like a weenie before right there. But I feel so proud, I talked to a girl today…who’s not my mom or old ladies.

I check my watch to see I’m already late.
