I pulled up to this cafe' and killed the engine. I really don't want to do this, like at all. My mother had been calling me the past three months, begging to see me. I don't know what the fuck she expects me to say. She decided to skip out on me at a young age. Why the fuck she's trying to get in contact now suddenly, is beyond my list of cares. I don't want to do that white people "please forgive me" bull shit and I'm not giving her any money. It's only by the grace of Granny Maxie that I'm even meeting with this bitch right now. She kept telling me I should give the lady a chance so I thought I'd give in. However, this is beginning to be a waste of my time and I haven't even stepped foot in there yet.
"Welp, here goes nothing." I said as I put on my Ray Bans and got out of my all black Ferrari, a little gift I gave to myself last week just because. I hit the alarm and walked inside. The smell of coffee and smothered pork chops made me get a slight feeling of home. These are my old stomping grounds and it's rare that I come back to this place. My father used to bring me here all the time as a child to get me some apple juice and a bologna sandwich. When he died, a kept the tradition going. Hoping one day he'll walk through that door and smile at me and tell me everything is okay. I know it's impossible but it's the only thing I have left to keep me tied to humanity. Otherwise, I would've been lost my mind.
I spotted my mother almost instantly and laughed. She looked crazy like I knew she would. I went to her and sat across from her at the table. I took off my shades and cleared my throat.
"Hello Tori."
"Jade...how-how you doin' baby?" she stuttered.
"I'm good." I answered all too quickly.
She tried to touch me but I moved out of her reach.
"Don't, touch me."
She quickly pulled her hand back and started twiddling her thumbs. Don't know if it's because she's nervous or if she's still strung out but she has a twitch to her that's starting to annoy me. On the inside I was screaming at her for being a shitty mother. She didn't even have the balls to come to my father's memorial. It was bad enough I couldn't find his body so I had no choice but to damn near set up a shrine for him. To have her not step one hair follicle in my presents when I needed her most will never be forgivable. But I'll remain calm and cool to hear whatever it is she feels she needs to say. And if it's anything distasteful I won't hesitate to slap her in front of every living person in this facility.
"I uh..I wanted to apologize for how things went when you were younger. I had got this modeling gig-"
"Yeah, how's that going for you?" I said sarcastically.
"Well you know business. They-"
"Listen lady, what the hell do you want? I got better shit to do than sit here and listen to you sob about some bull shit that I can't afford two fucks to give about."
"Jade, I am your mother-"
"Since when?" I asked, shocked at her boldness.
"Look, I'm in a bind right now. I know your father left you plenty of-"
"This is sad. Completely fuckin' sad! Your crack head ass didn't even show up to my father's funeral and you in here asking me for fuckin' money? Bitch I should slap you!"
"Bitch!?"
"Yes, bitch! Don't call mine nor my grandmother's phone anymore."
I opened my purse and pulled off a hundred-dollar bill and put it on the table.
"Fix yaself up Tori."
I put back on my shades and got up and walked out of the cafe'. As far as everybody knows, my father left me a bunch of money in his will. Nobody ever suspected that I ended up taking over his empire. I'm the most skilled woman in the game, key word being woman. I have all power and all respect. And you already know I like it. Maxie suspects something but her being her, she never says anything. And I believe I like it that way. Don't need her breathing down my neck about my life decisions
