Another Search Party (An Elsword Fanfic)

Chapter 10

And so another chapter arrives. Let's see what happens now that Another Search Party has arrived in Hamel.

      "It's important that you don't let your power get to your head. Training under me will allow you to grow stronger but if you allow that strength to cloud out your reasoning, you'll only end up hurting those around you. Not just your comrades but the community that you are in," Elesis said. 
     
      "Yeah, I know. I asure you that you won't have to worry about that," Reya said. "Good. But you still need to be aware of not just your power but the power of others as well. They might also misuse it and even if they are one of your comrades, it's your job to make sure that they don't. If you don't do this and they end up harming someone, part of the blame will be one you," Elesis said. "I understand," Reya said with a nod.

      That particular memory crossed Reya's mind as she followed Kai while keeping a close eye on Raiden. The stunt that he'd pulled earlier was still fresh on all of their minds as they made their way to the Hamel palace. They were being escorted by Hamel guardians and were supposed to be meeting Chung. As they walked though, Reya took notice of the reactions that the citizens of Hamel had to their group, Kazumi and Risui being the center of attention.

      "What's a demon doing here? Is it being brought in as a prisoner?" someone whispered. "That must be the legendary vixen that Ara Haan herself hid away from the world. Do you know how rich they must be to have her?" another said. Reya didn't like the fact that her new comrades were being talked about as if they were merely objects rather than living beings with feelings.

      "Reya," Kazumi said once she'd gotten next to Reya. "Yeah, what's up?" Reya said. "I'm going to disappear for a bit. Can you watch Hoya for me. Risui already has Naho and Miho," Kazumi said as she handed Hoya over. Before Reya could ask what she meant by disappear, Kazumi evaporated into shimmering mist smoke causing some onlookers to be alarmed.

      "It's gone!" one person said. "It's a spy sent here to harm us," yet another said. Reya couldn't entirely blame them since Hamel had been the victim of more than one attack but they still needed to be more considerate. Kai took notice and glanced behind him. He said nothing, probably already guessing what had happened.

      Eventually they all got to the palace and the guardians let them in the front door but stayed outside. In the center of the large foyer, someone in light grey and blue armor was waiting for them with their back turned. "That's strange. I thought Chung was taller...and grey isn't his color either...he looks more feminine than last time," Raiden muttered but everyone heard him anyway.

      "That's because I'm not Chung. If he'd heard your insult just now, chances are, he'd have blasted you with his destroyer. Bad mouth my father again and I'll blast you with my destroyer," the person said as they turned around to face them. Raiden and Risui were shocked by the news of her being Chung's daughter.

      "You're Chung's daughter...but where is Chung? I was supposed to meet with him about our arrangement to stay here in the palace," Kai said, completely unphased by the fact that this girl was Chung's daughter. Reya wasn't either but of course, no one asked for her opinion, so she stayed silent, watching for Kazumi to show back up.

      "There's no way you're Chung's daughter! He's not old enough to have a daughter your age however old you are!" Raiden interrupted. "I'm fourteen and I was adopted. That doesn't mean you can underestimate me and my power. My father has trained me well," she said. "So you're here in place of Chung. Did he have somewhere to be?" Reya asked.

      "Yes. There was an emergency meeting about the level of defense that our city currently has. I can't discuss any more on this topic here though. We'll need to go to a secure location in the palace," Chung's daughter said. "Ah wait, before we go, do you mind telling us your name? It would be kind of weird not knowing," Risui spoke up.
