Chapter 16

Kazumi opens her eyes to find herself in a decimated forest with Risui looking over her. "The heck just happened? Where is the forest?" She says as she rubs her eyes.

With a sigh of relief, Risui says, "A lot of things has happened. Like for instance, we met the legendary Elesis and possible theory on Kai's origin. He might be part demon."

"What!? What do you mean Kai is part demon!? You still didn't answer what happened to the forest!? Where is the forest!? No, more importantly, where is Servius!? Why is Hoya taking a nap right now, if he sleeps this late he won't sleep through the night!" Kazumi exclaims.

Risui sits there rubbing his horns and says, "I don't know about the whole Kai situation. The part of the forest we are in kind of got destroyed when Kai fought Elesis. He lost and plus it's eleven so Hoya should be sleeping right now."

Kazumi looks at Risui like he was crazy then says, "You mean to tell me that I slept through all of that?"

Then Raiden says, "Yes, you slept through everything that the demon spawn just listed. Now, more importantly, we need to find what in Ishmael's sweet name is that monster named Kai."

Azure walks over to the diverse trio of species and says, "I don't trust this situation at all. I believe we should make a run for it. I could create a smoke screen and book it from here."

They all nod in accordance and as Azure reaches for her destroyer but Reya says, "You can leave if you want to. Just want you to know you would be abandoning someone who has saved all of your lives at least once." The guilt stops them from turning tail and abandoning Kai and Reya. Reya drags Kai's half-dead body closer to the camp and says, "I am pretty sure that you have a couple of questions for me so ask away."

"What is Kai?" Azure says looking at the unconscious knight in disdain.

"Kai is asleep," Reya says sarcastically causing everyone but Azure to snicker.

Azure rolls her eyes and says, "I am serious. What is Kai?"

"This is all I know about Kai, when Elsword found him seven years ago, Kai, with his bare hands, slew a whole horde of demons that destroyed his town. But when Elsword tried to talk to Kai he went berserk and tried to kill him and Aisha. Aisha casted a spell on him that sealed of 65% of his power off and eventually Kai came to his senses. Moral of the story is we are currently the gatekeeper to Henir himself. So I beg of you, please stop being stupid. The world kind of depends on it."

Raiden begins to chuckle as he says, "It's so ironic coming from you, the woman who basically is the fuse for a ticking time bomb. I mean really Reya, was it the best choice to start dating a monster. I wonder what your kids will look like will they have lightning horns like their daddy or super magical fire. I swear you crack me up."

Reya grabs her dagger and presses it against Raiden's neck, "Shut up and mind your business."

Yellow electricity begins to jolt in Raiden's eyes as he says, "Go ahead, try me. I promise it won't be as easy as last time."

Then Azure places her two pistols on the heads of Reya and Raiden, and says, "It's not smart to fight our own comrades right now. We don't know what could be lurking in the forest, so let the posturing rest until tomorrow."

Kazumi bears her fangs as she says, "Such a hypocrite."

Then within a blink of an eye red lightning zips across the standoff leaving everyone on the ground wondering what hit them. "Sup, guys it looks like you couldn't even last an hour without trying to kill each other without me," Kai says rubbing his eyes.

"Um, Kai did you get stronger?" Risui asks helping everyone but Raiden up.

Kai stretches a little bit then says, "Nah, the limiter just needs to finish adjusting until then I'm around 72% mana output wise and 53% physical strength wise."

"What are your normal settings then?" Risui asks looking at Kai as if he was a monster.

Kai scratches his head and says, "50% for mana output and 37% for physical. If a limiter is working at its full capacity."

"Now it makes sense why your power is so inconsistent," Raiden says finally getting up after realizing that Risui wasn't going to help him up.

Kai cracks his knuckles and punches the air. "It's been a while since I been able to move like this." Then Kai collapses to the ground. Kai looks up at Risui and says, "Um, it's going to take a couple of hours for my mental state to reach my physical strength so would you be a team player and help little ole me out by picking me up."

Risui bends down to grab but he stops half-way because he felt Raiden staring daggers into his back, "Well, you see Kai, it wouldn't be fair to Raiden if I helped you up so maybe if you ask him he would do you this favor." Risui then winks at Kai and walks away.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time now," Raiden says with glee, pounding his right fist into his open left hand.

Kai struggles but only manages to roll a couple feet away from Raiden, "Raiden, weren't we in a life or death struggle just a couple of hours ago. You really would turn on your friend like that?"

Raiden chuckles maniacally, "Don't worry Kai the only thing that will be hurt is your pride." Then Raiden pulls out a black permanent marker and a large empty brown sack.

"No, NOOOOOOOO!" Kai cries out but no one comes to save him. Before he knew it Kai found himself with cat whiskers and a spotted eye, but the worst part was he was stuck in Raiden's sack with Raiden carrying him around like a trophy.
