One week after dad was sent to the doctor, he died. He could not stand out with the pain and decided to unplug all the machines that were keeping him alive. I could see the pain, but mom didn't.

"Rick, I know you can do this." Mom said while standing at the side of dad's hospital bed.

"No, Marlene." Dad whispered. "Just let me go, I will go to a place there I won't have to suffer anymore." Dad's voice was rusty and I knew that this was the end.

Mom looked at him with serious eyes and kissed him for the last time. I walked out of the room. I didn't want to see my dad fade away. He was a good man, and too young to die. I sat in the korridor almlost one hour before mom came out. She took a chair and sat beside me.

"He's gone now." She said.
