The day is here! ...I think?

I sit back in my car seat as I look out the car window.

'I wonder where is she is.' I think as I frantically scan the crowd of students for Lucy.

"What's make you so jittery all of a sudden?" My mom ask as she turns the car into the student parking. "I've never seen you this excited to go to school. Is there someone you really want to see today?"

As if on cue, my phone began to buzz in my front pocket. I thrust my hands I my pocket and nearly throw my phone out the car window as I look at the phone screen with excitement.

And thank the Lord, it was Lucy.

just got here with the fam at the office

A huge smile spread to both sides my face as I look at mother. "Yep, there is defiantly someone here that I want to see today."

I slide the phone back down in my black jean pocket. I flip down the visor and look at the mirror to make sure I looked my best. I spiked my afro more to give more "pop" to my look. I slide my hands down my black shirt to smooth out any wrinkles. I even looked in my nose to make sure I didn't have bats in the cave. While I was quickly touching up my looks, my mom looked at me with her signature "like someone and I don't know how it is" look. However, instead of interrogating me, she made the car stop and allowed me to leave the car without any questions.

"Good luck at school today; don't do anything crazy please." My mom said as she gave me a "I Love You" sign with her hand.

I returned the gesture and replied, "Don't worry about it, today is going to be perfect."

She laughs as she revved the engine, "Alright Curtis don't get too crazy it's only the first day."

Before I could reply with a witty remark she drove off and drove down the street to head to work. I shake my head and chuckle to myself.

"Oh don't worry I'll be fine."

I begin to walk down to the office with strut in my step.

"Today is going to be amazing."

As I walk to the office I wonder how Lucy's parents are going to react to me. They already knew me, but I was still worried. What would her mom say when she see me? Would I say something stupid on accident that makes look like an idiot? And what about her father? A chill runs down my spine as I shiver. How he going to react to me? I reach the office, but before I can open the front doors I shake my head and prep myself.

"Your a nice guy, Carter. You got this in the bag. Just walk in there and be yourself."

I slowly breath then I open the front door...

"Carter!"

and greeted with a sudden warm tackle. I look down to see Lucy with her arms wrapped around my waist and her head pressed into my chest. I blushed like I was being choked but I return the hug back to avoid looking weird.

"Hey Lucy, It's good to see you again."

She looks up at me and smiles, "Good to see you, too. See? Told you I was going to your school. Oh! You want to see my mom?"

I put my hands in my pockets, "Sure, why not."

Lucy leads me through the sea of people in the front office until she places me right in front of her mother and two small adorable children. She was short, just like her daughter, a white tank-top, some blue jeans and some sandals. To be honest Lucy's mother looked just like her, but a little more older.

"Hey, mom. I would like you to meet my friend. Carter, this is my mom." Lucy said as she introduced me to her mother.

Mrs. Gardener looked at me. I froze like a deer caught in headlights. However, I mustered every ounce of courage and let the words fly out of my mouth.
