Chapter 3

When the bell rings for my first class, fear overcomes me as I've already gotten myself late. I immediately reach for my schedule in my pocket, but then I hear Maka laughing at me. "W-what's so funny?" My cheeks turn red as I look up at my 'comedic' friend. "Sorry, it's just that you're so jumpy today! You don't have to rush, you have time." "Oh yeah... I forgot. I guess summer really did go by slowly." I look down for a moment, feeling regret since I should've used all that time to the fullest. "Well, I should get going. Bye (Y/n), I'll see you later!" Maka starts walking away, waving to me. I'm brought back to the fact that we have to get to class now. "Oh shoot! Bye Maka!" I start running as my eyes drop down to the schedule. Noticing that my first class is science (more specifically, biology), I become almost faint. Oh god, I have Mr. Stein! I start rushing to find the classroom.

When I get there, I feel relieved to notice that the teacher isn't even in the class yet and that I came right on time. I start looking for a seat, which was difficult since the room was almost full. After looking for a few seconds, I see an empty seat next to a shaking boy (at least I think he is one) in a long black garment with a white button up underneath, black shoes, and rose colored hair that looks like it has been cut by a 3 year old (honestly), though I like it. I fill myself with confidence and I start walking towards the seat.

I could feel his eyes watching me as I approach him and the empty seat. He seems somewhat unsettled by this, which pretty much drains the optimism that had remained in me for the day. When I arrive to the spot, I sit down and I slowly and carefully look over at him. He immediately looks away, flustered. Heh, ironic how someone who is literally rose colored is shown to be so unhappy. Wait.... a somber, rose colored boy?..... Could this be Crona? I realize that I've been staring for too long, which is causing the boy to look extremely uncomfortable (his hands are shaking, his teeth are chattering, and his face is sweating). Our interaction so far has been so awkward. My first words to him were even more uncomfortable. "Ah! S-sorry! Didn't mean to stare!" I hold his trembling hand, causing the rose colored boy to face me, to where I could see his eyes. They're a deep, glistening, navy/lavender blue and they are absolutely beautiful; possibly the prettiest I've ever seen. I think I might just drown in them. Snapping out of his trance, I continue. "By the way, my name is (Y/n) and I'm a miesterless weapon. It's nice to meet you!" I paste a smile on my face and I shake the boy's hand in mine, which may have not been such a good idea since his already dark cheeks became even darker, a medium.... grey?! That's so strange! Are the rumors true?! A tiny area of skin feels rough, I look down to see his hand, it has the darkest scab I've ever seen. "He-hello.. My n-name's Cr-Crona... I'm the Demon Swordsman.." He said in a soft, yet shaky voice. So, he is Crona! I smile to myself for I'm at least doing ok with this conversation so far. After a few seconds, I start to feel incredibly uncomfortable because of Crona's perturbed state. I finally ask, "Hey, a-are you ok? You don't look too good, in fact you look a little sick..." I maybe shouldn't have said that but I already worry for him. Crona's eyes widen and he turns his head back to me. "I-I'm sorry, I just g-get a l-little nervous on the f-first day." Suddenly, his cheeks turn grey, he looks down, and he covers them with his long, yet thin hands. He continues to mumble, yet it was so inaudible I couldn't understand anything but the words "girls", "deal", and "pretty". "Oh, what did you sa-"

My question was immediately cut off by the startling sounds of rattling and a loud smack. I turn my head to see a man with grey hair, a lab coat, and a giant screw through his head. My entire body feels faint. It's Stein.
