She was perfect.

The way she constantly changed her position in her chair every few minutes to get comfortable. She always brushed the tiny strands of hair away that fell down her face and touched the surface of the paper when she was reading. Her eyes always scanned across the page as if she was looking for something before she began to read. She was always reading.

Luke didn't know what it was that made him crazy about this girl. He didn't even know her name. She'd walk into the coffee shop and sit many booths away from everyone. She always took the seat closest to the window, that was one booth away from Luke. Whenever Luke walked in to order his drink, she'd always be there reading or listening and tapping her fingers to the Bon Iver songs that played through the speakers in the shop. Her nails were always painted, once they were a brownish red color which complimented her skin tone. That drove Luke crazy.

Once when she was about to get up and leave he decided to talk to her, however he just ended up standing there and staring with his mouth wide open. She looked at him as if he was crazy but he didn't care. She was still perfect. She thought he was some weird goth perverted guy since he always wore black and stared at her. Did he think she wouldn't notice the staring?

This went on for about a month, just staring and reading. Luke didn't mind as long as he got to look at her, but one day he walked in and she was sitting in his booth.

"Excuse me..?" He awkwardly sat across from her. She didn't bother to look up from her book. He coughed loudly.

"What?" She spat, still not looking up.

"You're in my booth." Luke gave a slight smile.

"You're name isn't written on it, is it?" She flipped a page in her book.

"No, it's just normally you sit over there," Luke pointed to the booth one row down," and I sit here." She finally looked up at him.

"Oh so now you're stalking me?" She cocked her head and fluttered her eyelashes.

"No that's not what I said." He shook his head and sipped his coffee.

"Seems like it." She rolled her eyes and began to flip to the back of the book and tore out the last page.

"Why are you tearing out pages?" He asked changing the subject.

"They're not just random pages, it's the ending. I don't like reading the endings." She crumpled up the paper and threw it in her half empty coffee.

"Then what's the point of reading a book if you don't get to the end?" He watched the paper soak up the coffee.

"I don't think it's the ending that counts. It's the story. It shouldn't matter if Romeo and Juliet dies or if Eleanor never writes to Park." The paper was now tearing into smaller pieces as the ink bled, "what counts is the story, the fights the love, all of it." She laughed. "I just don't like endings."

All Luke could really do was sit and smile, it's not like he could judge this girl. He barley knew her. But what she just said impressed him. She was strange, but in a beautiful way. He liked that.

"What's your name?" Luke couldn't find anything else to say.

"Adrianna Walker." A wide grin spread across Luke's face.

"I'm Luke," he bit his lip and stared at the soggy bits of paper in the coffee, "and Eleanor does write to Park."

"What?" She asked, confused.

"Eleanor writes to Park. She sends a post card." He began tapping his fingers to the music.

"What does she say?"

"Why should I tell you? I thought you didn't like endings." His smile was growing wider with every word he spoke. Luke was enjoying this.

"Oh come on I still want to know what happens" she rolled her eyes.

It took Luke a long time to answer. So many options and choices of words were running through his head. So he considered his choices.

1. I can tell her what the post card says.

2. I can get up and walk away. (As if)

3. I can be totally spontaneous for 30 seconds and ask her out.

Surprisingly, he went with option 1

"It says I love you." He immediately regretted his choice and wish he went with option three. However it turns out he didn't have to.

"You're pretty weird," She smiled, her bottom lip finding its usual place beneath her teeth, "I like that. Meet me here again on Monday."

Luke nodded and watched her get up from her seat and leave. He tried to process what just happened but he couldn't. All he did was sit there and stared at her coffee cup and focused on the bits of paper; slowly getting smaller and smaller.

Until they disappeared.

You have no idea how important this chapter is. You better remember it for a long time lol.

Anyways sorry this is short. The chapters will get longer I promise.

This is also the first time Luke met Adrianna. But that's not why this is so important. You'll find out later on.

I'll just leave you guessing for now.

Haha.
