"Bye Dad, see you later!" I called as I stepped out of the house, bags over my shoulders and an eggo waffle in hand. Jogging down the steps I fixed my Liverpool F.C. jersey into place. I didn't really have time to get ready this morning.

Going to a school in a timezone 3 hours ahead of your old school really ruins your sleep schedule.

I used to live in California, all sun, perfect life. My dads job moved him east to north carolina three weeks ago. Three weeks before my senior year of high school. This year was going to be hell for me. Great.

Walking to school wasn't the best thing in the world but the school was close. We have two cars, one for my mom and one for my dad. And trust me I am not taking the bus.

Walking up and through the parking lot was interesting. Not exactly what I was expecting from a school with such a high sports and academic reputation.

Girls in pink mini skirts and white spaghetti strap tank tops with a pink zip ups wasn't really what I was expecting.

Making my way into the school was weird. It was like no one had ever seen a new student before (face claim: melanie weissman) or maybe it was the fact that I was in a Liverpool jersey and some jean shorts and everyone else was in some very revealing clothing.

There were a couple girls though that were dressed normal. I made a mental note to try and find them at lunch.

Heading towards the main office, I tried to ignore the eyes on me. Yes, I was new, but I wasn't from a different planet. I'm just a random girl in a soccer jersey.

My mom had called the school to see if they had a girl soccer team. They didn't but they did say that the coach was ok with me trying out with the boys.

Looking over the counter at the front of the office, a small older women sat. She was looking through some papers when she noticed me.

"Hello dear" she said politely. "What can I help you with?"
"Oh um I'm new here. I was wondering if you could print out my schedule?"
"Sure, what's your name sweetie?"
"Um Mackenzie Jackson."

She clicked a few things on her comment till she seemed to have found my name. She printed t out and handed it to me.

"Your home room isn't too far from here but if you want I can have someone come down to guide you if you'd like."
"No, that's ok. But thank you" I signed as I stepped out. As I was walking in some random direction away from the office I looked around for anyone that might be able to help me.

I noticed a girl by her locker with a boy, who I assume is her boyfriend. Hesitantly I made my ways over.

"Hey um I'm new. I was wondering if you could lead me to room 112?" The girl looked up and the boy who wasn't facing me turned around.

"Sure! Let me see your schedule." She said reaching her hand out. I handed her the paper when the "boyfriend" spoke.

"Sorry she's very giddy and overly excited when she meets new people." I nodded my head in understanding. "So what's your name new girl. Or should we just call you that" he laughed out.

"Uh Im mackenzie Jackson, but my old friends just called me Mac or MJ." I nodded.

"Oh well mj we have homeroom and our 5th and 6th period together. So you're in luck. "Later zach!" She shouted over her shoulder, pulling me away from him.

"Im katie, by the way. But just call me kat"
"Got it kat"
"So mj, where are you from?"
"California"
"Really?"
"Yeah. Why?"
'"It's so far from here. And UCLA is my dream school. I want to go so badly but I need some sort of scholarship. Not all of us are made of money."
"I get that. I don't really know where i want to go yet. I have a few schools in mind." I stated as we walked up to the door.

"Well here we are. Don't worry, Mrs. C is nice. She'll love you." as we walked into the class I took a quick glance around the room. On one half of the room, by the windows, sat what looked like the jocks. All of them wore different jerseys and look very athletic.

On the other half f the room sat the 'popular girls'. Most in short mini skirts or booty shorts. I noticed a few from the hallway in normal clothes. Maybe I wouldn't talk to them later.

Kat lead me over to her desk and we talked the rest of home room. Once the bell rung we made our way to our next class. All I want to do is go to soccer practice. 8 periods to go.

###
"MJ" someone screamed from down the hall. I whipped my body around to find kat running at me. "Hold on i'm coming." she said, panting.

"I just need to go to my locker" I said as I stopped in front of it.

"So, what are you doing after school, I was thinking we stop by the mall, maybe get some ice c-"

"I have soccer tryouts, Kat. Sorry. Maybe friday?" I said cutting her off.

"You're trying out for the boys team?" she asked in a shocked tone.

"Y-yeah"

She hesitated before basically screaming in my ear. "That's so cool!"

"Thanks" I said as we walked into the cafeteria. Kat started walking towards a table with two other people sat at it. One of the people was the boy from before, zach I think. The other was a girl that looked similar to zach. Maybe a sister?

"Hey guys. Chris this is mj. She's new." the girl looked over at me. At first it looked like she was about to tell me off and scream at me to go somewhere else. Then she looked at my jersey and her face lit up.

"Hi im christina but most people call me chris." I smiled back at her.
"Hey chris." I looked back and forth from her to zach. She gave me a confused face before I spoke again. "Are you two related?" zach and chris looked at each other before zach spoke.

"No, but I do see the resemblance." he said chuckling.

The rest of lunch was spent getting to know my new friends. Turns out zach and kat weren't dating, chris seemed to like soccer just as much as me but was made fun of last year for wearing a jersey to school.

The bell finally rang and I was off to my last two periods of the day.

This day can't go by any slower.
