mjs pov

walking off the plane made me nervous. thinking of seeing caden made me nervous.

daniel held my hand as we made our way to baggage claim to grab his things. i only had a carry on. after grabbing his stuff we sat on a bench near the exit so we could order an uber.

i felt my phone buzz in my pocket. i picked it up to check who it was. caden.

"i have to take this" i told daniel before stepping to the side.

"hey caden" i murmured, eyeing daniel from where i stood.

"hey mj. i'm guessing you landed since you picked up. how was your flight?"

"it was good" i tried to put on a fake smile, even if he couldn't see me, he could probably hear the nerves in my voice. "i napped for most of it"

"hopefully you won't be too jet lagged" he laughed "hey i'm are you alright? you sound anxious"

"i um. yeah yeah i'm okay." i felt like i was telling myself that more than him.

"i know daniels back" my breath was caught in my throat for a moment. "i know you still like him. even after our kiss? i don't understand how you could do that to me."

i didnt speak. how did he know? i feared this type of reaction from him. and now it was happening. i still wanted to be his friend. getting with him was never a good idea.

"hey mj?" he called from the other end of the line. "mj hey"

i felt shaky and sweaty. my phone felt like it would slip out of my hand. suddenly everything went quiet and fuzzy.

i was snapped awake by a bright light and daniel standing on the outside of the car. he was holding the door open, waiting for me to get out.

we we're off the flight? that must not have been real meaning camden's reaction never happened.

he still didn't know.

"i didn't think your roommate would want a guest and my dorm isn't ready yet so i got us a hotel for a few nights." i grabbed his hand, pulling myself from the car.

"our bags?"

"inside already" he smiled

when we got up to the room, i flopped onto the bed, almost immediately falling back asleep. hopefully i'd have a better dream than my last.

hey guys! it's been a while. how's everyone dealing with covid? i'm in the states so you can imagine how i'm doing. this chapter is really short but i wanted to update and this is what i came up with.
