Police were dispatched to the Ballantyne Theatre on the corner of Jenkins and Match Street after they received reports of a gas leak at the establishment. It was in the early morning hours of this day, Saturday July 29, that a MR. CHESTER ASTOROTH reported the scent of gas coming from the building's kitchen. He evacuated the building and had word sent to the local officials. When they arrived it was established that all save one of the theatre's regular occupants had been removed from the premises, leaving a MISS VIVIANE HARDING unaccounted for. The buildings gas was shut off and authorities proceeded into the structure where they found MISS HARDING lying dead next to the oven. It is perceived she unlatched the gas and allowed herself to be killed. At this time it is still undetermined what may have caused MISS HARDING to take her life. By all accounts, such action seemed outside of her character. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police are currently interviewing any involved parties hoping to unearth some motivation for such harsh and deadly action. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
