MY ears twitch as the assault of noise descends upon my newly awoken senses. After a few moments of re-acquainting myself with the world of the conscious, I sigh in content as the bird song begins its lovely melody.

For the first time in my life, I find that I did not shed one tear before drifting off to sleep last night and it was a peaceful sleep. No tossing about, wondering what insults were going to be thrown my way.

Swinging up out of bed with a grin on my face I think, I am different. I am a she-wolf. The grin gets larger as I reminisce about the fact that I transformed into a large white wolf in the woods last night.

Hopefully – going by what stories have told me – this transformation will help improve my strength, speed and agility. But, of course, I will need to help by working out and going for runs. So after flinging on some gear I am out the door.

No one else seemed to be awake as I get back from my run, panting and drenched in sweat. I delicately make my way up to the shower, careful to only breathe in through my mouth when absolutely necessary, as I smell really bad.

The boiling water cascades down my body as I begin to lather myself in the special soap mother and father told me to use when I was a child. Apparently, this soap was to help keep the 'bad guys' away and, me being the little darling I was, immediately obeyed and have obtained the habit of using said soap ever since.

I pause for a moment before washing the now foaming soap off and feel the tingles start to spread, letting me know that the soap was in effect.

Honestly, I have never really known what the stuff actually does as I wasn't told but now that I know what I am; I am guessing it has something to do with me being a werewolf.

I wonder who else is a were in this family... Is it a random gene or does it run in the family?

I throw on some of the clothes in my closet and go to get some breakfast but stop when I notice that they seemed to be even more baggy than usual. They were also slightly too tight in two particular area's.

My brows knit together when I take note that I also feel quite a bit lighter than I did yesterday, though I attribute this to the extra long run I took this morning.

I feel a presence behind me and am sure it is Ross before I even turn around. Sure enough, my older brother is there, leaning against the doorframe with a puzzled and look on his face. Those emotions were soon taken over by the flashings of surprise, happiness and then his face morphed into an ecstatic grin.

"You phased!" He sort of whisper yelled. My face took on a look of pure shock as I wondered how the hell he could know that but then a light bulb seemed to flicker on above my head as realization dawned on me.

"You're one too then?" I ask, a hesitant smile forming on my lips.

"I am, Lil' sis. When did you phase?"

"Last night in the woods after school."

"So that was why you were out so late!" I nod and guilt flooded his features.

"God Rue, I am so sorry I wasn't there for you. It must have hurt so much – I would know first hand – and I wasn't there! Did you find it all right? Were you freaked out much? Because I was scared shitless when I first phased." Ross blabbered on.
