I looked down at the bill I had racked up within the two hours of me sitting at the bar. There was no way I could pay this. One drink turned into two, which then kept multiplying. After all the drinks I've downed, I'm not even sloppy drunk. You could say I've built up a tolerance.
I grabbed my purse fishing threw every pocket hoping to find money I knew I didn't have.
I sighed before grabbing the bill and stuffing it deep into my purse. I walked to the bathroom to freshen up before leaving out the backdoor.
A gush of chilly wind instantly made contact with my bare face. This is the perfect weather, not hot but not too cold.
As I walked to my car, I took the time to observe every thing around me. I haven't took the time to notice the world in a while. The few trees that were around, were bare. All the shops had their fall and Halloween decorations out. This used to be my favorite season, with Halloween being my favorite holiday.
One thing I was on the look out for were help wanted signs. My mother was right, it's time for me to get my shit together. I'm just looking for something small while I look for better opportunities.
As I walked to my car, I noticed a huge 'Coming Soon' sign hanging on a newly built building. It was a cute little shop. It looked like it'd sell vintage items. I was now kind of interested. One of my favorite things were to collect beautiful vintage items. I'd have to remember to come back to check it out.
Once I got in my car, I realized I didn't have enough gas to do what I intended. I was going to drive around to look for job opportunities but that wasn't happening. I drove home with the hoping to find something through the web.
Once I got settled in at home, I pulled out my laptop making random Google searches. Search after search and still there was nothing. I somehow found my way looking through my Facebook. I haven't looked at this for months. Seeing all the pictures of me having a good time with my friends made me smile. I eventually found pictures of me and Eric. We were so happy together. Life with him was perfect.
I gently closed my laptop and made my way to my bedroom closet. I dug through the bottom drawer and grabbed one of the many t-shirts that belonged to him. I stripped out of my clothes, then put on his shirt. It brought a sense of comfort.
I started looking through all his belongings that were still in the same place he left it.
All of his jewelry was layed out nicely in its designated drawer. He had a small collection of chains that he loved. He worked so hard to build his little collection. I gently rubbed my hands against one of the cold diamond embedded white gold chains. This was my favorite.
I then looked at his collection of earrings. He made sure he always looked his best. I knew for sure, when it was time to let go of all his things, I would keep all his jewelry for Jaxon. I know he will appreciate it when he is older.
As I continued to look, I saw his favorite watch, which I believe was a gift from his brother. He never talked about his family much. All I knew is he had two siblings, a brother and a sister, and his father had passed when he was 19.
I've never seen a watch that looked remotely similar. It was truly one of a kind. This had to be the most expensive peice of jewlrey he owned.
I gently closed the drawer before continuing through all his belongings.
All his clothes were now just collecting dust. I knew I could donate all of his clothes and shoes but a part of me hopes he'll pop up one day like he never left.
I left the closet before the tears could fall. I made my way into my bathroom, digging around for a face mask and bathbomb. I used to pamper myself weekly but that was something that I pushed out of my routine.
Eric had always fed into my obsession with self-care products. He would surprise me with an abundance of products.
As I slipped into the bath, my mind drifted to one of the best nights of my life. Eric came home just before I could get my bath ready. He insisted he join me...
'Good, I thought I was gonna have to use this by myself' Eric said with a smirk while holding up a beautiful box.
I let out a small giggle before reaching for it. Just before I could grab it, he moved it further. 'Get in' he told me pointing in the direction of the now full bathtub. I slowly striped from my clothes. I made my way into the tub and watched as he finished lighting the rest of the candles. I seeped further into the warm water waiting. Eric was finally done and ready to join me. I leaned up so he could slip behind me. He grabbed my waist and held me tight as he whispered softly in my ear. I'll let you do the honors. Open the box' I tried to turn to look at him but he stopped me. 'Just open the box Bey'. I grabbed the box and opened it. I moved all the filler paper strings to the side and grabbed the mysterious item. When I finally saw it, I was slightly confused. It just a bathbomb. I laughed slightly before talking, 'Baby, it's just a bath bomb. What makes it such a surprise?' 'Just drop it in Bey' he replied softly. I dropped it into the water watching it devolve. I ran my hand through the glitter feeling relaxed. I closed my eyes and leaned back. 'Watch it Bey, you don't wanna miss it' I opened my eyes watching it dissolve the rest. Just as I was about to close my eyes again, I noticed a little plastic container. 'Baby, their was something inside of it!' I mentioned. I reached up to see what it was. 'Open it' he told me. I could tell he was smiling. I tried to open the little container but it was a little difficult. Once I finally got it opened, what ever it contained had fell into the water. I giggled slightly as I reached down to try to find it. 'You dropped it, didn't you' he said knowingly. 'I didn't mean too! It was an accident!'. I finally felt something in the water and brought it close to my face ready to examine it. I gasped when i got a full look at it. I was holding a beautiful ring. Tears immediately came to my eyes when I heard Eric whisper the most special words into my ear: 'Will you marry me?'
