dec's p.o.v.

i hear the front door open then close. it wakes me from my sleep, and i don't know what's going on.

it's around 9 a.m. and ant is still sleeping peacefully to my right. i gently kiss his forehead, then i hear footsteps and quietly sit up in bed.

"stephen? is that you?" the footsteps stop, "yeah, it's me." i sigh with relief. i don't respond to let him continue on to his room and lie back down.

i don't go back to sleep because i'm wide awake. instead i grab my phone and see what is happening on social media. nothing too interesting.

i go to get up when, "declan." ant groans out, groggily from sleep, "stay here, don't get up. you're so warm, mmm." i smile down at him and he keeps his eyes closed.

"i'd like to ant, but i want to go see stephen. aren't you curious about how last night went?" i ask him and place a kiss on the tip of his nose.

he rubs his eyes, "of course i am. but sleep exists." i playfully hit his arm and he chuckles. "alright alright, no need to get violent declan. i'm getting up."

he sits up and rubs the sleep out of his eyes and heads to the bathroom to freshen up. i do the same and we both head to stephen's room to see if he's awake.

of course, he's not. he's fast asleep, lying on his stomach in clothes that clearly aren't his and his right leg hanging off the bed.

"how cute." i say to ant, "i remember when he was little, he would always sleep on his stomach. i always thought it was weird, but hey, he's a pretty weird kid."

we continue talking as we head downstairs. "yeah, he was. but he was our pretty weird kid." he smiles and kisses my cheek.

"what do you want for breakfast?" he asks me. "pancakes?" i say the first thing that comes to mind.

"alright, pancakes it is." he grabs everything he needs and i go to help him, "no, no, no. i am cooking for you and stephen when he wakes up." he holds me by my hips, "go on now. go watch some telly while the pancakes are ready."

he pecks my lips and i head to the living room. i flip the tellybox on and flip through channels until i decide i was going to watch some netflix.

i turn on sherlock and don't worry about anything else. but my attention eventually gets pulled away by the delicious smell of pancakes.

"declan!" i hear ant call out, "pancakes are ready!" i head to the kitchen and see a ton of pancakes on the counter.

"ant! what are you trying to do? feed everyone on the block?" i chuckle at him, "sorry, i made a little too much, but i think there'll be enough for us three."

"speaking of, is stephen up yet?" he asks me, as if i knew. "i don't know, i'll go check. he should be up by now." i look at my watch then head upstairs to stephen's room.

i quietly open the door and surely enough, stephen is awake, lying there on his stomach with his phone in his hands.

"who ya texting there lover boy?" i laugh a little at his embarrassment. "dad! what are ye doin'?! i could've been naked!"

i laugh more, "true, but we checked on you not long ago and you were fast asleep." i go to sit on the edge of his bed. "now come on, freshen up then come downstairs. ant made way too many pancakes."

"did you say pancakes?" he shoots up out of bed, "i'll be right down!" i chuckle at how fast he gets up and head back down to see ant setting the table.

i go up behind him, "looks nice." i say putting an arm around his shoulder. "thank you dec, glad you like it. was stephen up?" he asks once again.

"yes he was. he was on his phone and i scared him. he'll be right down." and as if on cue, he came running down the stairs holding the sweats he was wearing to make sure they didn't fall off.

"where are the pancakes?" he asks eagerly. ant and i chuckle, "they're on the table. go ahead and start eating" ant says as he makes a path for stephen.

"so, tell us about last night stephen." i say, watching as he stuffs his face. "was it how you hoped? more or less than what you were expecting?"

he takes a moment to swallow the food and drink some milk. "it was amazing! like nothing i would have ever thought of!"

i loved how he talked about last night with such passion. he had this sparkle in his eyes that he would get whenever he talked about something he loved.

he explained every detail about the night and what they did, and even explained his pajamas.

"that is adorable. isn't it dec?" i turn to ant, "yes, just adorable." i turn back to stephen and place my hands over my heart.

"aww look at you. my little stephen all grown up." i hold back my tears and succeed not wanting to spoil my appetite.

we all continue eating and talking about the past. we talked about when ant and i met to how we came to the decision to have stephen.

it was all i could have ever expected to have on a sunday. my family and i, reminiscing about the past. our past.

ant and i have known each other since 13 but didn't really become best friends until 2 years later at age 15. and now, we were both 37 years old.

after that we became partners, then lovers, then soul mates. we got married in 2000 and had stephen in 2001.

i don't regret a single moment in my life. i love how everything has turned out, my little boy all grown up, my best friend still beside me after all these years.
