a continuation...

"stephen..." david hesitated to hug stephen back. he didn't know if he should. he lightly patted his back and the scratched the back of his neck.

"i, i don't think you can do anything." he pulled stephen off of him by his shoulders and looked him in the eyes. "i'm sorry stephen."

stephen didn't know what else to do, so he just started to cry. "what are you sorry for? you've done nothing but be kind to me. you obviously put more effort into our relationship than i did."

he sniffled, "it's all my fault. i should've just quit my job to get a normal one. it wasn't fair for us to have an apartment if i was never there at night with you. i love you david, i truly do. and i'm sorry. for everything."

david was holding back his tears, "i know stephen. i just wish that this really worked out, but it just didn't. maybe we should just take a break, from each other."

they didn't want to do this, but if it meant a chance to try and save their relationship, they knew that they had to.

"alright, a break sounds like a good idea." stephen sniffled and looked at david with puffy red eyes. david wiped away the tears that had rolled down stephen's face, and gave him a small smile, followed by a small kiss on the cheek.

david headed back inside and said goodbye to stephen as he made his way back to his car. "i'll see you soon, my sweet prince." david whispered as he watched stephen trudge to his car from the window.

needless to say, the following months were agony for stephen. he had to stay in the flat he and david shared, and he didn't want ant or dec to know what had occurred that day, though they already had a small idea to what may have happened.

david, on the other hand, he told his mother everything. she was the only one who truly knew what was going on between the two of them, and she comforted him everyday.

the last couple months since that day, they never really talked. they would wake to each other or say a small 'hi' if they bumped into each other, but they didn't really speak.

that is, until, today. david sent stephen a message asking him to meet him in their favourite cafe.

stephen got up with such excitement and wore his best outfit. he made his way out with a small flower he picked from outside the flat.

on arrival, he found david sat at their booth and greeted him, somewhat awkwardly. "hi, david. erm, i uh, i got this for you." he handed him the flower and saw david smile.

he wasn't sure why it was so awkward, but he knew that he had a funny feeling in his stomach. something he hadn't felt in a while.

"thank you, stephen. it's beautiful." david placed the flower behind stephen's ear and smiled."it looks good on you."

stephen blushed and, since he was eager to know why david had finally messaged him, he changed the subject, "right, so what's up? why have you told me to come down?"

david sighed, and he took stephen's hand in his, "these past couple months have been complete and utter shit for me." stephen was a bit shocked, he had never heard david curse.

"but i feel like i deserve to tell you, i love you. i have never felt what i feel when i'm with you, with anyone else. when you smile, it makes me happy. and your contagious laugh, your beautiful blue eyes. just everything about you." david was now sat right next to stephen.

stephen was left speechless, and before he could even speak, he was met by a pair of lips that were all too familiar. this was something he was longing to feel once again.

"i love you too, david. i always have. i don't know if you know this, but i've quit my job. i am no longer a tv presenter, i'm enrolled in online uni and i'm working here at this cafe. i'm doing this for you."

david hugged stephen, and as they were getting up from the booth, david got on one knee and popped the big question. the question stephen had thought he would be asking.

"stephen mulhern, would you make me the happiest man alive, and marry me?" stephen put his hands to his mouth and nodded frantically as tears began to fill his eyes. david stood up and took stephen's face in his hands and kissed him.

"come on, let's go tell our parents about this." they got into stephen's car - since david walked - and went to ant and dec's house, only to see david's mother there as well. "right, where is it? stephen, where is it?"

stephen played dumb and said, "where is what? what are you talking about? david do you know what they're talking about? could it be..." he whipped his hand out of his pockets and flashed his new engagement ring,. "this?!"

everyone cheered and ant and dec hugged stephen tightly. "i can't believe it! my boy, my sweet little stephen, getting married! brings tears to my eyes."

dec wasn't lying about that, tears had literally swelled up in his eyes. "aw declan, come on, mate. keep yourself together." ant said, holding back his own tears.

"dad, it's okay. i'm just as excited as you are." he hugged dec and and pulled ant into the hug as well.

"i just can't believe it, i thought i was going to ask you first." stephen looked up at david, and he chuckled.

david's mum interrupted, "right then, if you boy are done, i've made some biscuits and tea and a few crumpets for us. hate for it all to go to waste."

stephen bolted to the dining area and started eating the crumpets, seeing as there weren't very many of them.

"look at him go. that's going to be your whole future," mrs. walliams said, "i should give you me crumpets recipe. so you can learn to make them for him."

david nodded and smiled at his fiancé, "that would be great, mother." he hugged her and they all made their way to the dining area.

they sat and chatted for hours, not even realising that i was nearly midnight.

"bollocks, look at the time. i'd hate for you all to drive out in the dark. why don't you all spend the night?" dec spoke out.

they all agreed. stephen and david took stephen's old room, while david's mum took the guest room.

stephen and david were all cuddled up in bed ready to sleep, when, "david? d'you think we'll get married in a church or a d were all cuddled up in bed ready to sleep, when, "david? d'you think we'll get married at a church or could we try to get married at gaynes park?"

david hugged the smaller man on his chest, "i would get married

david hugged the smaller man on his chest, "i would marry you at a dump if it meant getting to spend the rest of my life with you. i thought about you all those months, thought about the day we would be married and have little rugrats running around."

stephen smiled, "you're amazing, and i love you." david kissed his forehead, "i love you too, now go to sleep. i want to take you out tomorrow to gayness park and see when we can get the venue."

on that, stephen did as told and fell asleep in a heartbeat, same as david.

not so sure about this chapter, but i got inspiration lat night so i had to write it all down.

however, with them getting married, it means the story might be coming to an end! 😱😭

i have enjoyed writing this story, i consider it my baby because i'm pretty sure it's the first one i wrote.
