The therapist's office was completely different from what Toni was expecting. The walls were painted a khaki colour and paintings of colourful flowers adorned the walls, there was a large wooden desk stationed in front of her along with a lamp. Photos of the therapist's family were stuck messily to the monitor making Toni think of Cheryl, she pulled out her phone from her bag and typed a short message.
toni
hey baby, just wanted to let you know that I'm fine. xxxx
A smile plastered the serpent's lips as she immediately saw the 3 dots pop up, signifying that Cheryl was typing.
cheryl
ok, I'll come to pick you up after xxxx
she quickly typed a reply as the door opened and a woman walked in. Her hair was falling out of a messy bun, sweeping over her eyes and blocking her view as she stumbled into the seat in front of the girl.
"Hello, miss topaz right?" she smiled outstretching her hand.
"Yeah, nice to meet you dr..." Toni replied shaking her hand nervously.
"Rodriguez, but you can call me Kayla. I hear you have been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder recently. Would you like to tell me more about it?"
"my mother and brother died when I was seven years old" she took a deep breath "we were in a car crash, they were both killed almost instantly. I sat next to the road crying for hours before FP found me. He took me in and helped me get over it, I joined his gang and moved on, they're my family now, I mean I would still think about her but I thought I was over the grief. That's until I met Cheryl, she opened up to me and i felt it was only fair she knew about my struggles too. But letting all my emotions out again after all these years hurt, and I can't stop thinking about it now."
"do you mind me asking...are you close to Cheryl?
"yeah" Toni mumbled biting her fingernails anxiously "she's my girlfriend"
"do you love her?"
"Um... I guess we haven't really got that far yet"
"Trust me if you love her she was only asking because she cares about you, not to try and hurt you"
Toni felt nauseous, her palms were sweating and her head was spinning.
"I...I need to go" she stuttered quickly grabbing her bag and running out of Kayla's office. She sprinted back to Thistlehouse, it was 5 miles and the shorter girl had never been a natural runner but the adrenaline kept her going. She needed to tell Cheryl something. And she needed to tell her now.
Cheryl heard a crash as the doors flung open and she saw Toni stood between them doubled over panting.
"BABY" she shouted running to support her girlfriend, pulling her over to a near couch. "are you ok? why are you back? did you have a flashback?"
"I'm taking you somewhere" Toni smiled her cheeks still rosy from the run, she pulled Cheryl of the couch and led her to her motorcycle.
"but..."
"no buts" the serpent smirked as she pulled the helmet over her girlfriend's head and started the engine of the bike.
Cheryl was confused. Why had Toni run back from the therapist's office only to take her somewhere on her motorcycle. She was promptly snapped out of her thoughts as the engine revved and they took off. Cheryl gripped onto the leather of Toni's jacket for dear life, prayings he wouldn't fall off the back of the bike.
She cursed loudly as they stopped suddenly in the middle of the road. The girls climbed off the bike and Toni led Cheryl away from the bike. After a couple of minutes they stopped.
"I've brought you back to where we first met at the drag race because my therapist asked me something today and it made me think about how special you are to me, you have turned my life upside down Cheryl Blossom, your beautiful, confident, brave and strong, and I'm so freaking happy that your mine" she paused reaching for her girlfriends' hands and interlacing their fingers "I love you. I really fucking love you, i'm madly in love with you Cheryl."
"you...you love me?" she muttered under her breath before pulling her into a tight hug, they pulled away, catching a glance at each other before connecting their lips. Toni's hands quickly getting lost in that firey mane she had grown to love.
"I do" she pulled out the pale white box that had been sitting in her pocket for days and got down on one knee.
"Cheryl Marjorie Blossom will you do me the honour of taking this ring as a promise that I will always love you, I will never leave you and that one day, I can replace this ring with an engagement ring."
Cheryl's eyes glassed over and a tear threatened to fall down her cheek. "YES, YES, YES!" she sobbed as Toni slipped the ring onto her ring finger.
And there stood two young girls, stood in the middle of the road where they first met months before, promising their love for each other.
A/N - these are the promise rings btw. This chapter was a flop but I needed to get one up. love you guys xxx
