“Girl, what’s the real score between you and Xian? Are you like a thing na?”

That seems to be everyone’s question to me nowadays, especially Bechay. Like right now while we are being fitted for our gowns and the guys are just across the room from us.  But seriously I’m getting tired of answering this question. Why can’t they ask him? He’s the guy after all.

“Mimay? Ano na?”

“Alam mo Bechay lagi mo na lang tinatanong yan and hindi pa rin magbabago sagot ko. We’re friends, ok?” I groaned.

“Ikaw na talaga ang artista. Ang showbiz lang girl?!” She gave me a slap on the arm.

“Aray! Wagas makahampas. Haha.” I was rubbing the part she hit.

“Pero seriously Mimay, you’re always together. At tingnan mo nga yang si Xian oh, kanina pa titig na titig sayo.” She pointed at the boys across the room. “Buo ka pa ba? Baka tunaw ka na. Hahaha”

I glanced at their direction. I saw him staring but immediately turned away the moment our eyes met. Then after a few minutes, he glanced again. This time he held my gaze and smiled. That smile that brings shiver down my spine. I shook my head and turned to Bechay.

“Gaga ka talaga! Haha. Alam mo kung makapagsalita ka parang di namin kayo kasama ni Vic ng madalas ah. Bechay I’m your maid of honour and he is your fiancé’s best man, so probably lagi talaga TAYO magkakasama.”

“Couz, minsan lang tayo magkita for the wedding prep. Tapos whenever I go to your place sasabihin ng helper mo na kasama mo raw si Xi. Kapag tinatawagan naman kita laging busy ang line mo, I’m guessing na siya pa rin kausap mo. And when I text you, grabe Kimmy ha it takes you forever to reply to me. At may nasagap pa pala ko from Manag Minda, ano tong binabalita niya sakin na halos everyday daw nasa inyo si Xian. Hindi pa raw sikat ang araw eh andun na at pinagluluto ka pa? Yan ba ang uso sa mga FRIENDS ngayon ha Kimberly?”

“Bilib naman ako sa radar mo couz. Pati si manang dinadamay mo. Just because we hang out may relasyon na agad? Can’t a girl and a boy be friends, plainly friends?”

“In your case? HINDI! Ahaha.” She stuck out her tongue.

“Ang kulit mo rin talaga Elizabeth! Iwan kaya kita sa pag-aayos ng wedding mo? Magtatanong ka tapos di ka rin naman maniniwala.” I’m beginning to get irritated with all the teasing and questioning.

“Ok. Fine. Hindi na nga. Hahaha. Pikon agad?” She said laughing while raising both hands in surrender.  “Pero you kissed.” The last words she said softly but I still heard it and decided just to ignore it. Yes we kissed and until now I don’t know what that kiss means.

“Hindi ako pikon. I’m just clearing out assumptions.” I folded my arms. She just gave me a whatever-you-say-grin.

After a few more adjustments, it was the guys turn to be fitted for their suits. Bechay and I ran through the details of her bridal gown with Veejay. Everything’s all set. In four months, my cousin will be Mrs. Elizabeth Santos-Muñoz. I know she’s very happy about it. Although I’m a bit sad that soon she’ll be starting a new life. Meaning she will have less time for me. A little selfish I know but Bechay’s more than a cousin. She’s like a sister. My twin sister. My best friend. She’s right. The past weeks I’ve been busy. We barely had chance to bond. If I don’t have work I’m always with Xian.
