"How dare he? I needed that money so badly!" Kiawe hissed more to himself than to anybody in particular as he made his way up Wela Volcano. He had just been informed that his service in Thrifty Megamart "was no longer needed" he said in a mocking tone. His dismissal wasn't all bad though, as now he could finally run around shirtless again. Kiawe loved being shirtless, in a way it made him feel stronger and masculine. He could also show off his abs, of which he was really proud. Throughout the holidays he had worked on transforming parts of Wela Volcano to better suit the dance he and his Marowak had come up with. As a welcome side effect his muscles had greatly increased in size, which he thought would definitely come in handy when he spoke with Lana. His crush on her had developed rather slowly, but now he couldn't get her out of his mind no matter what he tried. Whenever he couldn't sleep, he would imagine that Lana would sing him a lullaby in her sweet, soothing voice. With this kind of help, he would fall asleep in just a few minutes. During his thinking, he had arrived at the top of Wela Volcano and now he could see the surrounding landscape in all it's glory. Straight ahead lay Royal Avenue with the Battle Royal Dome in its center and, to it's left, there was the Thrifty Megamart which Kiawe had been fired from just an hour ago. He tilted his head to the right where he spotted Paniola Ranch and at the horizon, he could barely make out Brooklet Hill. Brooklet Hill was the area where Lana held her trial, so that place had a special meaning to Kiawe. Even still, he had never been there and he didn't expect to get there anytime soon. Although it may have seemed like Kiawe was fairly self-confident, he was surprisingly shy when it came to talking to girls. There was the occasional small talk with Mallow and Lillie, but Lana was out of the question. He was certain he'd mess up and say something weird which would ruin any possibility of a relationship with her. "Hey, whatcha doing up here lad? Shouldn't ya be working yaself to death in Thrifty's?" a deep voice behind him asked. Kiawe's face brightened up by the sound of it. He turned around to greet his old friend. "Been a while, ain't it David? Everything going well with ya dance class?" Kiawe said while he and David did a high-five. "Lookin good so far! Still just basics tho. I can't wait to get to the real stuff!" David exclaimed. "What about Thrifty's?" he then asked again. "Got fired." Kiawe replied. "Fired? What for?". "Don't really know and don't really care." Kiawe lied, wanting to get the topic over with. "Aight. Ya know, ya dance skills have suffered quite a tad lately! What's up with that?" David remarked. "Haven't really had the motivation for it I guess... Doing the same dance over and over can get pretty tiresome after a while." It really bothered Kiawe to be unmotivated for dancing, because that was his one big passion and usually he could do it for hours on end. "Figured! But don't worry, I think I know whatcha need! Clear your head, try something new, ya know! Something like a twosome!" David said with a slight smirk. "A twosome?" Kiawe asked in disbelief. "A twosome." David stated with a voice that sounded like he had just found the solution for solving poverty, famine and war all at once. Kiawe still wasn't convinced. "There's just one slight problem in case you hadn't noticed, mate... No one wants to dance a twosome with me! Or will you help me out with that?" he said laughing. "Nah, it won't be me!" David countered with an even louder laugh that left Kiawe very confused. 'What's he planning?' he wondered. In the back of his mind, an idea formed that was just too perfect to be true. "Ya know, I asked ya friends if they might wanna learn to dance..." David began. The idea in Kiawe's head took a clearer form. "It was quite the task, but in the end, I managed to recruit one young lady." David ended and whistled twice. Kiawe's heart jumped in excitement as, from behind a few rocks, a small girl with blue shorts and a white top emerged. 'Lana!' Kiawe thought astonished. 'She looks even more beautiful than I remember.'  He wanted to thank David so badly for setting this up, but Kiawe had never told him about his crush on Lana and he figured it better stayed that way for now. "I'll leave you to it! See ya!" David said before turning around and making his way down the mountain. "See ya..." Kiawe managed to shout after him absentmindedly as his attention was already completely focused on Lana. As both of them were too shy to start a conversation, there was an uncomfortable silence between them. Finally, Kiawe mustered all the courage he had and greeted Lana with a simple "Hey...". "Hey..." she greeted back quietly and silence was once again enveloping the mountaintop. In an effort to break it, Kiawe motioned Lana to take a look at the surrounding area. As soon as she got close enough to the edge, her eyes lit up in excitement. "Wow, this is awesome! And you really get to experience that every day?" she asked curiously. "Basically, yeah." Kiawe chuckled. "I wish I could get this view every single day..." Lana sighed dreamily. Taking a step towards her, Kiawe said "Come around anytime you like! I wouldn't mind!" before mentally face-palming himself. 'I'm so stupid! Now she'll definitely know what's up!' . "Thanks for the offer Kiawe!" Lana said smiling. 'It sounds so cute when she says my name!' Kiawe melted away internally. 'I wonder if she really does plan on paying me a visit every so often...'. "Uhm... Kiawe? Hello, are you still there?" he heard Lana say. Snapping out of his thoughts, Kiawe noticed a hand waving in front of his face. "I'm... I'm sorry, what exactly?" he stuttered confused. "You're cute when you're miles away, you know?" Lana chuckled profoundly. Kiawe immediately began to blush and looked at the ground, but by a quick glance up at Lana, he could tell she was doing the same. "Sooo... You wanna learn how to dance?" Kiawe tried to get the conversation going again. "Yep." Lana stated. "And specifically you wanna learn how to dance a twosome?" Kiawe asked. "Yep." Lana repeated. "And why do you wanna learn it from me?" Kiawe asked in more detail. "Well... You're the best dancer I know..." Lana answered with a shrug. "The best or the only one?" Kiawe said with a raised eyebrow. "Both?" Lana laughed shyly. "Well, then let's start, shall we?" Kiawe announced nervously. For the next few hours, he showed Lana all the necessary bits and pieces needed to dance a waltz, the type of twosome he was the most familiar and comfortable with. He really enjoyed seeing her learning his favorite hobby and to his surprise, she quickly mastered the basics. After she had done so, they took a break and Lana revealed that Mallow had quickly thrown together some sandwiches when Lana told her about her plans. Kiawe had been getting more and more comfortable with the whole situation and by now he could talk to Lana quite easily. As they ate the sandwiches, Kiawe remarked "You know, these sandwiches are amazing! Mallow really knows how to cook and stuff!". Lana nodded slightly, but remained quiet. Kiawe took that as a good sign and turned his attention back to his sandwich. A few moments later though, he heard a sob to his right and abruptly looked over to Lana. She tried to shield her face with her hair, but it was way too short and Kiawe noticed a tear running down her cheek. 'Have I done something wrong?' he thought shocked. Lana's sobs turned into crying and Kiawe didn't really know what to do. He had never seen her cry and didn't even know what caused her to do so in the first place. Not really sure on what to do, he slowly placed his hand on her shoulder and gently asked "Hey, what's up? Why are you crying?". Lana didn't answer, but instead began to cry even more. Kiawe began to feel more and more uneasy as Lana cried on and decided to just ask again. "Have I said something wrong?". This time, Lana nodded but still didn't say anything. Guilt overcame Kiawe. He had caused Lana to cry and he also was the one to fix it again. Uncertain, he started wrapping his arms around her. Before he could finish his hug though, Lana flung herself into his open arms and buried her face in his chest. As she cried into his shirt, Kiawe slowly began to try and soothe her by stroking her back with his hand. Additionally, while he felt kind of stupid doing it, he repeatedly whispered "Shh, everything's alright...". After a while, Lana's sobs stopped and she retrieved her body from his hug, blushing. Kiawe didn't really want to let go because it felt really nice having her so close, but at the same time, he was glad it was over as he never had to calm someone down from crying, especially a girl, and to him it felt really weird. Both of them sat next to each other for the next couple of minutes, enjoying the view Wela Volcano offered. After a while, Kiawe felt like he could begin his second attempt. "Wanna tell me now why you cried?" he asked slowly, wanting to make sure not to have her cry again. Lana opened her mouth, but closed it again. "It's a stupid reason to cry about..." she finally replied. "There are no stupid reasons for crying!" Kiawe disagreed and tried to encourage her by shooting her a slight smile. "Fine. I'll tell you." Lana announced. She took a deep breath and began. "It's just that... That Mallow always gets compliments. Compliments about how pretty she is, how smart she is, how well we can cook and so on. And quite frankly, I've never gotten any compliment. Ever. So I always get a bit... Jealous when someone compliments her. I suppose I should be happy or proud of her since we're friends, but it really bugs me, you know? And right now, everything just came crashing down on me and I couldn't handle it anymore...". 'How has she never gotten a compliment before? That's impossible!' Kiawe immediately thought, but he didn't say it. "Well..." he coughed to get Lana's full attention. Now that he prepared to say something though, he wasn't sure if that had been the greatest idea, as with her eyes on him, he started to blush like crazy. "Uhm... All that I... Wanted to say is that... That... That you can dance really well." he stuttered with a tomato-colored face. It took Lana a few seconds to realize what he had just said, but when she did her face lit up. "Really?" she asked with gleaming eyes. "Yeah, I mean I've never seen anybody who mastered waltz theory that fast!" Kiawe affirmed. "That's really nice of you! Thank you, Kiawe!" Lana exclaimed happily. The two of them just smiled at each other for a while before Kiawe suggested "Let's try to do a real waltz now! What do you think?". "Sounds awesome, I'm ready!" Lana replied enthusiastically. 'I guess that compliment of mine really hit a nerve! She's so happy now!' Kiawe thought smiling while he and Lana stood up and went to the dance platform that Kiawe had constructed for his occasional performances. Only now they realized they had a small problem. Quite literally, as Lana was just too tiny to reach Kiawe's shoulders. Instead, she just held his arm while they intertwined the fingers of their other hand. They had no music, but they didn't need it. With time, their rhythm became more and more passionate and after some minutes, they didn't even have to think about it anymore, it just happened. At first, they didn't really have eye contact but as they become ever more confident, they started smiling from ear to ear at the other. "I'd like to try a spin now!" Lana demanded and Kiawe happily obliged, freeing his one hand from hers and spinning her with the most force he thought would still keep her on her feet. "Wohooo!" Lana shouted as Kiawe's fully stretched out arm retreated and pulled her into his arms. "Thank you, Kiawe!" she once again told him and beamed a smile at him. He smiled back and was certain that he was the happiest man on earth right now.
