The sun had already begun to set when Gladion decided to recall his Sneasel back into its Poké Ball, coloring the sky a beautiful, vibrant orange. The pair had spent the entire day training, trying to perfect Sneasel's Metal Claw. "Have a good rest," the blond told his partner, putting the Poké Ball back into his pocket.

As Gladion reached for another Poké Ball, he took in his surroundings. Rocks of varying sizes were scattered around him, a sign of Sneasel's ever-increasing strength. A slight smile tugged the boy's lips, happy with the result of their training. Silently, he released his Type: Null and reached down to ruffle his partner's fur.

Exhausted, the blond sat down against one of the bigger rocks in the area. "Isn't the sunset just amazing?" he sighed, looking over at Type: Null. His Pokémon barked in agreement and stretched out on the rocky terrain. Gladion closed his eyes to relax, appreciating the time he got to spend with his trusted friend. Ever since they had escaped from Aether Paradise two years ago the two had been inseparable.

"Look Lycanroc!" a voice rang out, "Do you see the exit, too?" Gladion's eyes snapped open and he hurried to stand up, frantically looking around for cover. Type: Null was equally alert and started to growl. "Quiet," the blond whispered, pointing to a formation of rocks to their left, "Let's hide over the-"

He froze when a Lycanroc emerged out of the shadows of the cave in front of him, knowing it was too late to hide. The wolf Pokémon immediately caught sight of the boy, baring its teeth and assuming a defensive posture, "Roc!" Type: Null stepped in front of Gladion and prepared for battle, growling at the Lycanroc. "Huh?" the voice questioned, "What's wrong, Lycanroc?"

A figure then stepped out of the cave, scanning the area. Gladion groaned mentally as he recognized the black-haired girl. "Oh, hi Gladion!" the girl chirped as her eyes landed on him. "Moon," the boy replied simply, giving his partner Pokémon a signal to stand down. "Roc, Roc!" the Lycanroc gnarled, seemingly looking for a fight. "Hey, take it easy," Moon grinned, "I told you Gladion is no one to worry about!"

Gladion frowned at the comment but remained silent. "So, whatcha up to out here?" Moon asked curiously. "I don't think it likes me," the blond pointed at the wolf Pokémon. "Scared?" the girl teased with a smirk, before recalling her Pokémon into its Poké Ball. "Of that thing?" Gladion tsked, "No way!" In truth, he had always been a bit intimidated by Moon's Lycanroc.

"Whatcha up to?" Moon asked again, her eyes focusing on the splinters of rock lying around. "Training," Gladion responded with a shrug. "Cool!" the black-haired girl beamed, taking a few steps towards the cliff edge. "Wow," she breathed as she gazed at the canyon below, "This view is incredible!"

The blond chuckled, "I suppose so." He reached down to pet Type: Null once more, "So, what brings you up here?" Moon's expression turned glum, "Oh, I'm trying to catch a Jangmo-o... I heard they only live here in Vast Poni Canyon, but I haven't been able to find a single one."

Gladion listened and nodded, wondering if he should tell her. Just yesterday, he and his Pokémon had stumbled upon a secluded spot deep within the canyon that seemed to be a gathering spot for newly hatched Jangmo-o. Ultimately, he decided to keep his secret just that - a secret. After all, Moon was his rival and there was no way he would let her get even stronger. He was already barely keeping up with her.

"Tough luck, I suppose," Gladion smirked. Moon didn't seem to notice, as she sighed and sat down to admire the sunset. A yawn escaped her lips. "You better not fall asleep," the blond frowned, "The night is freezing out here." Moon brushed it aside, "Yeah, yeah, I'll call a Ride Pokémon over in a bit." The two teens were silent for a while.

"Wait!" the black-haired girl then suddenly exclaimed, "You don't have a Ride Pager, do you? How are you gonna get down before night hits?" Gladion got nervous, quickly trying to come up with an answer. "Gladion?" Moon turned to face him. She teased, grinning, "What's up, Flower Boy?" Gladion immediately narrowed his eyes at the girl and growled, "Stop calling me that."
