The chilly winds picked up once again as the two girls ascended Mount Lanakila. The snow that covered the mountain was knee-deep but fortunately, a few Pokémon had cleared a small pathway through the frosty landscape, which the girls stuck to.
"Maaalllooowww," Lillie complained as she hugged herself closer in an attempt to keep warm, "How much longer?" Not receiving an answer, the blonde began pestering the green-haired girl treading ahead of her with snowballs. "Cut it out!" Mallow eventually turned around, giggling, "We're almost there!"
Lillie crossed her arms and pouted, "You've been saying that ever since we stepped out of the Pokémon Center! We've been walking for over half an hour and my boots are beginning to fill up with snow..." Mallow's green eyes radiated confidence, "This time I'm certain! Trust me, we'll be there in no time!"
Rolling her eyes, Lillie sighed, "Fine, whatever...". She figured this wasn't the right time to get into an argument. After all, the sooner they reached the spot Mallow wanted to show her, the sooner they could get down from this damn mountain.
Once they had started walking again, Lillie kept stealing glances at her girlfriend. "You can't tell me you're not cold in that outfit!" she attempted one last time to convince Mallow to return to the Pokémon Center. The green-haired girl wore the same pair of leather boots and thick snow pants as Lillie did, but had decided that the light green sweater her girlfriend had knitted her last year was enough protection against the elements.
"I'm very much fine," Mallow chirped, "It's cute that you're so concerned about me though!" Reluctantly, Lillie decided to keep quiet. The next few minutes were spent in relative silence, except for the snow crunching underneath their feet.
From time to time, the girls spotted the silhouette of a Pokémon in the distance. Mallow was the only one who found entertainment in trying to guess what Pokémon lurked out there, with Lillie begrudgingly trotting behind. The blonde looked up and noticed that stars had begun to appear in the night sky. Entranced by the sight, she almost ran into her girlfriend who had stopped abruptly.
"Look, we're here!" Mallow exclaimed excitedly and took a few steps to the side. Lillie took in the sight that presented itself before them, gasping in awe. The two girls were standing on an overhang, overlooking the entire southern coast of Ula'ula Island. Down below, the blonde could make out the Pokémon Center they had left earlier. Even further down, the ruins of the Tapu Village were barely visible.
"This is amazing!" Lillie breathed, her eyes sparkling, "You can see everything from up here!" Next to her, Mallow smiled and nodded, "Beautiful, isn't it?" For a while, the pair ignored the frosty wind, taking in nature's beauty instead. After a while though, Lillie began shivering. "Hey," Mallow got her girlfriend's attention. Clearing her throat, she felt her face heating up.
"If kisses were like snowflakes, I'd send you a blizzard," she managed sheepishly, quickly leaning forward and connecting their lips before Lillie had any time to respond. Their kiss lasted for a long time, both of them parting once they had to regain their breath. "Not feeling so cold anymore, huh?" Mallow teased, having regained her usual confidence.
Lillie blushed and stuck her tongue out at her girlfriend. The green-haired girl giggled, and then took Lillie's hands. "Come on, let's get back to the Pokémon Center," she suggested, "I don't want you to freeze to death up here." With a smile, the blonde nodded, "This was great, thank you!" Mallow smirked, "The view or the kiss?" She didn't receive an answer, as Lillie had already rushed ahead, keen on getting down to the Pokémon Center as quickly as possible.

A/N: I hope you liked this story!
I like to think Mallow's usually pretty confident, but from time to time she's super nervous when giving Lillie compliments. That's why I incorporated that here :) What do you guys think about their personalities in the relationship?
Anyway, feel free to leave any constructive criticism:) I'm always looking to improve my writing!
