Lance gulped.

He definitely couldn't take this monster on his own.

The beast wasn't too big, but it looked tough.

And Lance's lion was on the other side of the village.

And the monster was standing right in from of him.

The beast looked like a giant wolf, with weird patterns and spots covering its body. It was a few feet taller than Lance, and his dogs made him not want to even think about hurting it.

"Uhm...good boy?" Lance tried, inching away from the wolf-like monster. It growled, and three huge spikes grew from its back.

"Holy-"

Lance's brain seemed to shut down. There were only two options. He either fought this beast, or ran, and his legs did the thinking. His breaths echoed louder than his footsteps, breathing heavily as he tried to make it to the White lion. If I can make it, we can just scare this thing off... but if it gets to me first...

He shook his head, charging even faster than before. The earth began to shake, and he looked back. The wolf-like beast had charged, his strides the equivalent being two of Lance's, and it didn't take long for it to catch up. Lance turned his head back, only to be knocked over. The wolf attempted to bite him, but Lance resisted, pushing on the wolf's jaws.

The wolf was stronger.

In a few seconds, the wolf's strength would outweigh Lance's. It was just too much. Well... this is where I die. Just a day after being abandoned by Voltron, and i'm gonna turn into wolf meat. Maybe they were right... I'm just a usele-

Lance's negative thoughts were cut off by a furious growl, and loud stomps as the white lion emerged, it's shadow casting over Lance and the wolf. The now tiny seeming wolf cowered away, the sight of the white lion enough to send it running. Lance breathed heavily, recovering from the scare. "What would I do without you, white?" The lion only purred in response, lowering it's head and
opened it's larged toothed mouth.

Since the little chase had taken him half across the village, Lance flew his lion across dozens of huts before landing near a huddle of villagers, all looking with worried eyes. "Did you chase it off?" One of the villagers asked with hope in her eyes. "Yup! White actually scared it away." Lance nodded, smiling as he recieved hugs and cheers from the short villagers.

After a bit of walking, Lance returned to his respectful hut, tuckered out from all the running and adrenaline, and sat down. Deep in thought, Lance started reminiscing, events from the past. His parents, sister, his brothers, cousins... everything. Then it faded, only bringing back dark memories.

Voltron.

"What are you doing, Lance? Focus!"

"Why would you let Allura get hurt?"

Useless.

Nothing.

Not a true paladin.

Not worth anything.

Nobody.

"At this point, even Allura can outfly you! If you don't work harder, the blue lion won't need you!"

"Lance work harder!"

"If you'd stop flirting for one second, you'd actually fly the blue lion properly!"

"I wonder why the blue lion chose him!"

Lance buried his head in hs hands, tears threatening to fall.

The other paladins hated him—he knew that ever since Shiro punched him— and he didn't know why. None of the paladins were acting like before. But maybe they were right. Voltron didn't need him. But...

Lance tipped his head, looking outside through the opening in the hut, seeing the rest of the villagers, happily chattering, and little kids, playing and squealing in delight.

Maybe Voltron didn't need Lance. But, the people of this planet did, along with the whole universe. And that's where he was going to stay.

Lance stripped him self of his bulky white armor, and decided to practice his sharpshooting outside, while also getting some fresh air.

Letting the top of the black spandex under suit dangle behind him, revealing Lance's slightly toned chest, the Cuban boy walked outside, and neared the woods behind his home.

His white bayard manifested in his hand, shifting into a long and slim sniper rifle, once he stood in front of the many trees that filled the forest.

The boy aimed at the tree he wanted to shoot, took a deep breath, and shot. Successfully shooting his target. But Lance gasped as the shot left a hole in the tree.

"Jeez! This Bayard is wild! Shot a hole clean through the trunk!" Lance gaped at his weapon, before letting a large grin take over his features. "Hmm... What else can this bayard do?" Lance said quietly to himself.
