I can't believe my mom is making me move to a whole new state my senior year. I'm leaving so much behind; my friends, my school, and my football team. Before I get too far ahead let me mention my name is Chelsea Morgan and yes I am a girl football player; I'm actually the quarterback. Not many people hear that. They usually think I'm a cheerleader because not too many hear about a girl quarterback. To be honest I tried being a cheerleader, but I didn't like it; in fact I hated it. Then my dad handed me a football and taught me how to throw like a quarterback and that's where it all started.

Now your probably wondering if my parents are divorced because I'm only with my mom, well actually there not, my dad is a marine. He just got deployed before we moved and I couldn't stand to see him leave. It was devastating. I wish he was here with me right now to see me go off to a new school and try out for the team. The thing is I'm more closer with my dad than I am with my mom because my mom wanted me to be a cheerleader like she was, but I wanted to be with the boys and play football. My dad was the only one who came to the games; my mom never showed up which hurt a little bit more than I originally intended it to.

I loved my home in Chicago, Illinois which was a big community and now I have to move to a small town in Kansas called Augusta. We finally passed a sign that said: Population of 9,217. Now I know it's a small town. We got to our new house which was blue with white shutters and a one story house. We brought all our boxes in and started unpacking, so I could get ready for the first day of school in two days.

Those two days passed really quick and I got ready for school. I put on some jeans with rips in them and a cute blouse with some white keds. I ate breakfast and then drove myself to school. I got out of my blue jeep wrangler and headed for the doors and then to the office. I must say there's a lot of cute boys here. I walked in and these three girls gave me the dirtiest looks ever, but I just kept walking. I walked in the office and said, "Hi, I'm new here, and I need to pick up my schedule."

The lady at the front answered, "Hi, just go through those doors and it's the first door on the left will be Principal Franklin's office and he will tell you what to do."

I went the direction she told me to do and I found a white bald guy with a suit and tie on sitting at his desk. He saw me and asked, "How can I help you miss?"

"I'm new here and I need my schedule."

"What is your name?"

"Chelsea Morgan."

"Oh okay I have your schedule here and your slip that saids your new, so you just hand that to the teacher and you will be fine. Any questions?"

"Yes, I do actually. What do I do about trying out for football?"

He got really stiff as I said that word football. Then he said, "Just meet me at my office at the end of the day and I'll introduce you to the coach and give you a try-out."

"Thank you, sir." I said and then left to my first class which was english with Mrs. Little. I finally found it and knocked on the door.

I heard a little come in, so I opened the door and gave the teacher my slip and then she spoke, "It's nice to have you in my class Chelsea Morgan. Can you tell the class a little bit about yourself?"

"Yeah sure." I hated talking in front of a lot of people. "I'm from Chicago, Illinois and I use to be on the football team at my school and As the quarterback."

They all got stiff at the word football like Principal Franklin did, but then this red headed girl that gave me a dirty look and said, "She must be a dike." They all laughed.

I don't know what came over me, but I said, "I'm not a dike, but I think it would be better than a slutty bitch like you." Nobody did anything.

"That's enough. Now Chelsea you can go sit behind Luke." I walked three rows back and took my sit in the third column and sat down by this gorgeous guy that I've ever seen.

He turned around and said, "I'm Luke."

"Chelsea." I said smiling.

Finally the day was over and I walked back to the front office and then to Principal Franklin's office. He smiled at me and asked, "Ready to go meet the coach?"

"As ready as I'll ever be."

We headed down to the field and the guys were already suited up in their gear as I looked at them I saw that same guy from my English class; I think he's name was Luke. Once I looked at the cheerleaders I saw that red- headed girl again. I can not stand her.

We walked over to a skinny guy who must be the head coach and he asked, "Is there something I can help you with Mr. Franklin?"

"Yes, coach I would like to introduce you to Chelsea Morgan who would like to try-out for the team."

He looked at me and asked, "Are you serious? She's a girl." I just nodded my head and he asked, "What position do you play?"

"I'm a quarterback."

He looked shocked and said, "Wow. We could use a back up. Can you go change and show me a few passes?"

"Yeah sure."

"Okay, well you can change in the equipment room." I headed to the equipment room and changed then headed out to the field.

"I'm ready coach."

"Okay." Then he yelled, " Set up the offense and run some passes."

They set up and I stood behind this guy who was the center and he said, "Hi, my name is Greyson." He held out his hand.

I shook it and said, "Chelsea." He got back down and held the ball and then I yelled, "Ready set. Blue 42, Blue 42. Hut, hut." He released the ball and I threw a perfect short pass to Luke the reciever. We did the same thing, but did a long distance threw instead. I nailed it and threw it right to him. It was the most perfect, prettiest throw ever.

Luke came over and asked me, "Wow. Where did you learn to throw like that?"

"My dad taught me all I know."

He just smiled and then coach called me over and said, "You've got a great arm. My name is Coach Chris and I think you will make a great addition to the team. You can start practice tomorrow."

I just smiled and said, "Thanks coach you will not regret it, I promise."

"I hope not." He said smiling.

I went home and told my mom, "I made the team."

She turned around from cooking and smiled asking, "The cheerleading team?"

"No." Her smile than disappeared and I said, "The football team. Practice starts tomorrow."

"Well I'm happy for you." I knew she was lying, so I just went and took a shower and then laid on my bed. I couldn't sleep, so I went outside and laid on the grass looking up at the stars and the moon thinking if he could see the same stars and moon and wishing he was here with me. And how he would have been happy that I made the team. Oh, how I wish he was laying down beside me looking up at the sky and saying how he was proud of me.
