Chapter 5: Just Friends

The next morning I went to school and when I got there I went to my first class and Luke sat right in front of me like everyday. The day went by so fast and now it was time for practice. This practice went by so fast and surprisingly decent. We looked really good; I actually think we might win the next game. After practice I noticed Luke walking away with some red headed chearleader. Right then I knew exactly who it was it was the girl from my first day of school, but why would he be with her. They walked away together and I went over to Greyson and asked, "Who is that with Luke?"

"The red headed?" I just nodded. "That's Nikki, she's the captain of the cheerleader team."

"What's the history between them?"

"Oh, welll they had an on and off relationship and then he broke it off when his brother died because he didn't want to deal with all her drama. You see she never tried to help him cope with his loss, she just wanted to talk about her problems only. That's the only person she wants to talk about is herself."

"Do they go back out again?"

He must have saw the look on my face because he asked, "You like him, don't you?"

"No, why would you think that?"

"Chelsea, don't lie to me. I'm not going to tell him."

I couldn't keep it in anymore, so I finally said, "Okay fine. I do like him, but I told him that I didn't want to date him."

"Why would you tell him that if you like him and want to?"

"I don't know after we kissed and he came over to my house to comfort me over the loss of my dad, I told him that we were taking things alittle too fast, which we were. So i told him that it would be better to stay friends for right now and it looks like he's already moved on from me anyways."

"Look Chelsea don't take it out on him. I'm sure there's a good explanation to this whole thing."

"Well to tell you the truth I don't really want to know the explanation." I stopped talking for a few seconds and then said, "I better go now."

"Bye, I'll see you tomorrow. And don't worry everything will work out I promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep." I said back at him and he just laughed.

I walked all the way home and I went to my room. I just really couldn't believe he moved on from me so fast, but I he is a guy and they tend to do that. I thought he would be different, but I guess not. If he wants to move on form me so fast well then so will I. The only person I could think of was Collin. I really didn't want to, but it was my only opition right now. The only thing I needed to find out was how to get in touch with him.

I decided to look through the phone book and I eventually found his name and called his number and it rang and rang and then someone's voice picked up and said, "Hello?" It was kind a masculine.

"Hi, is Collin there?"

"Yes, I'm Collin."

"Oh well do you know who I am?"

"No, I don't."

"I'm Chelsea, the girl from the diner." Silence. "I was with Luke." Still silence."The girl quarterback."

"Oh gridiron princess. Well I'm glad you called. Did you need someone?"

"Yeah I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime?"

"Are you asking me out?"

I gulped and said, "Yeah, I guess I am."

"I knew you would come around eventually. Did you finally give up on little Luke?"

"Yeah you could say that."

"Well good. You deserve a way better guy, which is me."

"Well do you want to take me up on that offer then?"

"Of course I do. When?"

"How about Thursday? Sound good to you?"

"Yeah that sounds great to me and trust me you will have way more fun with me than with pretty boy."

"I'm sure I will." I half smiled and then hung up.

Thursday came by so fast and I still haven't talked to Luke. He was always with the red headed Nikki. Well Thursday night was finally here, so I got ready and then Collin picked me up and he said, "Well don't you look cute."

"Thanks." I really didnt want to be with him at the moment.

We went to hang out with his friends and then they all said, "Let's go ruin luke and his little football team again." I really didn't want to go, but I was with Collin and he was my ride so I had to.

We all piled in trucks and headed to the diner. When we showed up they were all over them and then I saw Luke and Nikki. Luke was out in front, so I hid behind everyone else and while they were talking I was not listening until Collin pulled me by my arm and said, "Well you should tell that to miss quarterback princess over here."

Luke had the most surprising look on his face as he asked, "Chelsea? What are you doing hanging out with them?"

Before I could speak Collin said, "Maybe she got tired of you pretty boy and she got bored with you." Luke just walked away and I felt like I really hurt him, but if he only knew how much he actually hurt me. We finally left and we went to a party I just sat down the entire time until Collin came over to me and said, "Follow me." As he reached out his hand.

I grabbed it and he took me to a bedroom and at first I didn't think of nothing. Then I sat down and he sat down beside me and then he just started kissing me hard and I mean really hard. His lips weren't as soft like Luke's lips. Then he laid me back and tried to take off my clothes and I pulled away from his lips and said, "Stop." He just kept going and I tried to pull away as I said, "Collin I said stop." He didn't stop and I finally got away from his grib and I ran so fast. I knew I had to get out of there, but then I realized I had no idesa where I was at all. So I just ran and ran. I finally made it home and I just couldn't go to sleep which is pretty bad because I had a football game tomorrow and I knew that it wasn't going to go so well.

The next day was game day and I didn't get any sleep last night because I thought Collin was going to come back for me and rape me. I was scared for my life. The day went by so fast and I didn't talk to anyone that day. I went down to the field to change and try to get what happened to me out of my mind, but I couldn't. The game was about to start and I had to get ready and clear my mind.

The game started and we were receiving the kick off and then the game was off. We got 40 yards and now it was my turn on the field, so I went. The coach told me the play and then I told the group and then I was ready. I said, "Down, set, blue 22, blue 22, hut." The ball was released and I had the ball, but I couldn't find anyone open and then I got slammed by the other teams defense. The first half I did horrible I didn't know what was wrong with me, but I just couldn't seem to make a pass to save my life.

Luke came over to me in the locker room and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you aren't making your throws or anything. So what's wrong?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Okay, well if you don't want to talk about it then maybe I think you should try to play like your best. You told me I should play for me and my brother well that's what I'm doing well I need to you to try to play for you and your dad. I believe you can do it, so you just need to believe in yourself, okay?"

"Okay, I'll try." That was the first time I've talked to Luke in a while.

We stepped on the field and I did play for my dad and we actually won the game 48-40.
