Charlotte's POV:
My head rests in Jack's lap as we sit outside in the grass. I watch intently as Jack plays with my hair. He seems so focused for some reason, but I like it.
Every time he tries to concentrate, his eyebrows furrow and a little crease forms between them. His lips always thin out into a narrow line, and for some reason, he's really cute when he does this.
After we got to my house after school, we went swimming for a little bit. Ever since we got out, we got changed and we've been in this position in my yard.
But, I can tell that something's bothering Jack. He's just had a different look in his eyes. I know that it's completely cliche, but I always know how he feels based on his eyes. Right now, they aren't nearly as lively as they usually are, and it's bugging me.
"Hey Jack?" I say quietly.
"Hmm?" he mumbles, continuing to play with my hair.
"Is everything alright?"
He looks at me and I sit up to face him. "Why would you ask that?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows even further.
"I don't know you just seem... out of it."
Jack sighs and his gaze drops from me to the grass. "Is there something that you're not telling me Charlotte?" he asks.
"What do you mean?" I ask, confused by his question.
"I mean, is there something going on between you and Bryan?" he says, raising his voice unintentionally. He looks back at me, and the look in his eyes is one of anger. I don't understand why though.
"Why would you think that Jack?" Does he honestly believe that I would get together with Bryan? It's pretty obvious to me that we're just friends.
"Well, you two have been spending a lot of time together and I always see you with him at school. And, I don't know, it just seems like you're not telling me something." Jack's tone is back to normal now, but it's obvious that his mood isn't.
"Do you seriously think that I would do that to you Jack?" I say, a little hurt by his accusation.
"I don't know, would you?" The frustration is back, and it almost scares me. I hate Jack when he's mad. He almost doesn't seem like the same person to me.
"No, Jack, I wouldn't!" I raise my voice this time without really meaning to. But it just makes me a little angry that Jack thinks I would go behind his back like that. "And I can't believe that you think I would!"
"Well, you haven't exactly been the easiest person to talk to this week, so how am I supposed to know? I mean, I've barley seen you because of Bryan."
"Jack, we're just working on a damn project. You're making it seem like we're going out on dates and making out."
"Well how did you expect me to know that you weren't?" Jack's raising his voice once again.
"Because you're supposed to trust me!"
"Well you didn't trust me! You thought I was out cheating on you with Leah when I wasn't!"
I flinch at the mention of that. I was really hoping he wouldn't bring that up. I feel tears start to sting in my eyes as I remember that horrible day.
"Well I'm sorry for making a mistake Jack." I say as I stand up and walk away from Jack for the second time in the past day.
"You're really doing this again? You can't solve all your problems by walking away from them!"
"No, but I can try." I growl as I open the back door to my house and slam it in Jack's face. But he just opens it and follows me in.
"Why are you so angry?" He questions.
