Charlotte's POV:
My feet act way before my mind can. Before I know it, I'm in my car driving.
I don't know what happened, but when I saw the hospital on caller ID, I freaked out a little bit. Part of me was hoping that nothing was wrong, but I knew that I wasn't that lucky.
The second I heard Jacks name, my heart stopped.
"We have a Jack Gilinsky in our care. We were told by his parents to call this number."
I didn't stay long enough to hear what the lady on the other end had to say after that. I was too busy running out to my car. I know that I left Bryan alone in my house without saying a word as I left, but I don't really care right now. He isn't my main priority.
My foot is pressed hard against the gas pedal of my car. I need to get to the hospital. Now.
I need to see Jack. But I also need to figure out what happened. Thinking about it just makes me more anxious. I know that something bad happened, and I'm scared to death to find out what. It could either be something minor, maybe like a broken finger, or it could be a lot worse. I can't help but hope it's the latter.
It seems like an eternity before I'm there, but once I pull up to the hospital, I'm running inside. I head straight towards the desk at the entrance, not wasting any time.
"I'm looking for a Jack Gilinsky." I tell the lady.
"Third floor." She responds.
I don't take the time to wait for the elevator. Instead, I rush up the stairs.
I've never moved faster in my life. I can feel my heart beating hard in my chest. My adrenaline is pumping, but not in the good way.
I reach the third floor and swing the door to the waiting area open. There I see Jack's parents. They dont see me, they're too busy talking to eachother, and i can tell by the looks on their faces that it's not good. I start to approach them, but I find myself moving much slower than I was just seconds before. When I'm a few feet away, they both realize that I'm there and turn to face me.
Mrs. Gilinsky stands right away and pulls me into her arms. This automatically makes me even more scared.
"Charlotte, thank God you're here." She says.
I slowly pull away to look at her and her husband.
"W-What happened? Where's Jack?" I stutter.
They both look at eachother with what looks like a mix of fear and regret in their eyes.
"Um Charlotte, sit down." Mr. Gilinsky says as he and his wife do so. I sit in the chair right next to them.
"Okay, there's no easy way to tell you this." Mrs. Gilinsky starts.
"Jack was in a car accident."
