Winds Of Change (poem)

22 12 16

They once were birds of a feather,
They flocked no matter the weather,
Kindred souls, once and for all,
Against all odds they stayed together.

Years and years of being there,
Every hour of the day, just like air,
One existence, joined by distance,
Continents apart, a perfect pair,

Penning their souls in friendship,
Amity more than blood kinship,
No wintery day, could ever sway,
Their steadfast companionship,

Then the winds blew their wings apart,
Their devotion had a change of heart,
What and why wandered in the sky
As they flew away without a chart,

Too much pride to fight the storm,
Wings too ruptured to perform,
When the lies blurred their eyes,
Cold they came, no longer warm.

Will they part? Will they stay?
That's a tale for another day.
