Carla was in the jungle, praticing her singing. As she finished, she heard someone land behind her.
"That was great!"
"Thanks, I-" Carla interrupted herself as she saw an handsome spix macaw of around her age. His crest feathers curled over his blue eyes. "Huh...What was I saying?"
"You're funny." The macaw chuckled. "As I was saying, you're a great singer. You got an amazing voice."
"Thanks." Carla blushed, unable to take her eyes off the newcomer.
"I'm Jake by the way."
"Hi, Jake."
"So, is your name as pretty as your face?" Jake smiled.
"It's...Carla." She said bashfully.
"So, in other words, yes." Jake declared.
"Well aren't you a charmer." Carla smiled coquettishly as she though to regain her cool.
"Your words, not mine." Jake grinned. "I'm a pretty good singer myself. Maybe we could do a duet sometime."
"Why not now? Let's try!" Carla said.
They sang a song together which made twice better.
"Not bad." Carla smiled. "Looks like I'm not the only bird here with a beautiful voice."
"Thanks." Jake beamed. "You wanna go hang out? I know a great spot by the clay banks."
"Sure." Carla nodded.
The two birds flew off together. Jake led Carla to a small recess on the edge of the clay banks.
"It's not much, but it's peaceful and private." He picked up some blueberries he took before coming here. "Hungry?"
"Sure am." Carla accepted the food. "So this is your spot?"
"I found it a while back." Jake declared. "Figured it make a good place to relax."
"You figured right." Carla nodded. "Every bird needs some alone time now and then, right?"
"Very true." Jake nodded. "But having the right company doesn't hurt either..."
Carla blushed again.
The two birds hung together for the rest of the day, talking about things like the jungle and dancing. As the sun started to go down, Carla decided it was time to go.
"Gotta head home. Parents, y'know."
"Sure do." Jake nodded. "My folks are waiting for me too. Let's do this again sometime."
"With pleasure." Carla nodded.
As they flew off toward their respective home, both teenagers gave one last glance back at the other. While flying, Carla felt a warm feeling in her chest.
Carla and Jake would spend more and more time together over the following days, their feelings for each other growing stronger. It was inevitable that one of them would eventually make a move, and it was Jake.
"Hey Carla?" He asked tentatively. "Can I say something?"
"Sure." Carla nodded. "What's up?"
"Well, I..." Jake said before trailing off. "Wow! You really have pretty eyes..."
"Is that what you wanted to say?" Carla blushed. "That I have pretty eyes?"
"Actually, I was just wondering...if you'd like to go on a date sometime." Jake offered.
"A date?" Carla giggled. "Took ya long enough."
"I'm guessing that's a 'yes'." Jake smiled triumphantly. "I suggest we go up the canopy to catch the sunset."
"Sounds good to me." Carla nodded.
"Til' then, my sweet." Jake kissed her wingtip.
Carla waisted no time in preparing for her date, washing herself as well as she could, putting on her favorite pink top and blue shorts and even adding a flower to her crest feathers.
"Well, look at you." Jewel remarked. "Where are you going well dressed like that?"
"Nowhere special." Cala shrugged off. "Catch ya later, Mom!"
Carla quickly flew off out of the tree.
"Nowhere special, huh?" Jewel grinned.
Carla soon joined Jake at the canopy.
"Wow!" Jake whistled. "You look amazing."
"Oh, this?" Carla smiled. "It's just something I threw together."
Carla sat beside Jake as they watched the sunset together.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Jake sighed.
"It sure is." Carla beamed. "I love the sunset."
"I wasn't talking about that." Jake nuzzled her.
"You sure know how to charm a girl." Carla chuckled.
"Hey, you wanna see something really cool?" Jake asked.
"What is it?"
"Just lay down and rise your shirt. You'll see." Jake left to go get something.
Carla was curious, but did as she was told, laying on her back and rising her shirt so that her chubby, blue belly was on display.
Jake then came back with an open coconut and plunged his wing inside it.
"It will be a bit cold at first." He gently rubbed the juice all over Carla's belly.
She tensed at the cold contact, but quickly sighed in relaxation as it felt like a massage.
"Enjoying it?" Jake asked.
"Yes, it feels so good." Carla purred.
Jake smiled and even massaged her deep bellybutton. It was over too soon for Carla.
"Anyway I can repay you for this?" Carla giggled.
"Hmmm." Jake though. "How about a good kiss?"
Carla didn't hesitated and putted a kiss straight on his beak lips which he gladly gave back to her.
It was official: they were in a relationship now...
