You scanned the forest for the ideal picture. The picture that was going to get your name known. You loved photography and hoped to do it as a profession one day – and this picture was going to get you there. You closed your eyes and smelled the forest, smiling as you took a deep breath. There was nothing more inspiring then being in the woods - not just any woods, but The Great Smoky mountains. Your family would go there every year to see the fall leaves, go river rafting and hiking. You loved it more than anything. The wildlife, the beauty of the woods, everything took your breath away. You walked in the dense forest along the trail, hoping to spot some wildlife. You had just turned 18 recently so your parents had let you go on some trails to find the perfect picture by yourself. Suddenly, you heard a snap. You shot your head around, trying to figure out where that sound came from.

There was another snap of a twig.

You quickly got your camera ready to photograph whatever was coming. You didn't dare make a sound, not wanting to scare it away. This was your future, and you needed the best picture. The bushes shook more and more, coming straight for you.

"Oh, this is going to be a big one." You whispered to yourself. Camera ready in your hand, you prepared to take the picture. Suddenly, you saw it and quickly snapped the picture. But when you released what it was, you looked confused, furrowing your eyebrows. It wasn't an animal. It was a boy. He looked at you as stunned as you looked at him. As confused as you were, you couldn't help but admire his figure. He had broad shoulders and a fit body. He had  brown hair that dangled over his deep brown eyes. It seemed as if he was running because his chest was moving up and down. You had a loss of words and just stared at him awkwardly.

"What are you doing out here?" He asked, now admiring you.

"Uhhh . . .taking, pic-pictures." You answered awkwardly. He smirked at you and reached out his hand.

"I'm Tom." He said smiling. You paused for a moment, your eyes going from his hand to his face, but then reached out to shake it.

"I'm Y/n. Y/n, L/n." You said playing with your hair, blushing a little.

"So, why are you so deep in the forest?" He asked scratching the back of his head, his eyes scanning the area.

"Well, you see, uh, I'm trying to find the perfect picture," You answered looking at your camera. "The picture that'll "put my name on the map" you could say." You continued. Tom smiled at you and thought for a moment.

"Well, I know a place that I bet you'd love to see." He said.

"Really? Can you show it to me?" You asked excitedly.

"Sure, thing!" Tom said gesturing you to follow him. You followed but then stopped. Tom noticed and turned around.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"I just remembered . . .um, my folks." You looked down sadly.

"They don't want you going places with a stranger like me?" He added. You nodded. Tom took a deep breath.

"I understand. I mean, my parents wouldn't let me go anywhere without them until I turned 18." He laughed a little. Your eyes lit up.

"You're 18?" You asked hopeful.

"Yeah, you?" He said raising an eyebrow. You nodded, grinning.

"Wow, that's awesome! Where do you live?"

"Um, (where you live)." You smiled shyly.

"I live in Kingston, London." He said. You grinned nodding your head. You both came across a stream with rocks to jump on. You stopped for a moment and stared at the crystal river. Tom picked up a rock and threw it, making it skip across the water 4 times.

"That was alright." You teased. Tom turned his head at you surprised.

"Oh, like you can do better?"

"Watch me." you smiled. Grabbing a stone, you swung it, making it skip 6 times. Tom's mouth dropped open with surprise.

"Okay, I guess you can." He laughed. He than took another stone from the river but stopped and stared at it.

"Wow." He added.

"What?" You asked, walking over curiously. As you looked at the smooth brown stone, you saw that it was shaped into a heart.

"That's so cool." You said gazing at it. Tom looked at you smiling and placed the stone in your hand.

"Here." He said, his eyes twinkling. You looked up at him in admiration.

"Th-thank you." You said rubbing its smooth body with your thumb.

"You're welcome." He smiled, staring at you.

"So, why are you in the Smokies?" you asked, curious.

"Umm, family trip. " He said, swinging another rock into the river.

"Oh." you replied.

"Hey, uhh, I don't wanna make this awkward but, you're really pretty." He said, blushing a little. You blushed harder though.

"So are you. I mean - handsome, I mean..uhhh." You covered your face with embarrassment. You'd never really talked to guys before or ever had one maybe like you before so this was all new to you.

"Hey, it's cool." He said laughing. You started to laugh too.

"Do you think you could show me that place you were talking about?" You asked.

"Yup! Sure, thing." He added, grinning.

"Cool, I'll just text my dad and tell him I'll be back later."

"Okay. If it's fine with them." He winked. Your stomach hurt a little from him and you didn't know what was ahead but you were preparing yourself for it. ;)
