Y/N POV

After a few seconds pass I seen Sasuke start to pass out again. Quickly, I catch him before he hits the ground. I take him back to the spot under the tree and lay him back down beside Naruto. The rags on their foreheads were starting to dry up. Man, why is the world working against me? It's so unfair!" I complained.

The water bottles that I had been using for their rags were empty so I decided to go out and get some more water at a river. "You two better be here when I get back or I'll beat your asses!" I say, knowing they can't hear me. 'Do you really think it's a good idea to leave them alone kit?' Kurama asked.

"Nope! But I don't really have a choice. I need to get water for their rags or they could start feeling worse." Since both of the boys were asleep and no one was around I just talked out loud. Nodding to myself, I turn around and start making my way to a river.

~~~~~~~20 minutes later~~~~~~~
"FINALLY!!" I yelled. There was finally a river in sight. I rushed over to it and happily started to fill the bottles up. Once the two bottles were full, I put a cap on them each and turned around to leave.
My expression quickly dropped and I jumped back when I noticed a weapon standing right behind me. "GAAAH! BACK UP YOU CREE-" Before I could finish my sentence I recognize who the person was.
It was Gaara. I continued to stay tensed up, not sure of what he wanted. "I've said it before! If you want my scroll I'm not giving it to you." I say rudely. I was trying to sound tough to see if it'll get him to go away. "I don't, I already have both scrolls. Now lower you voice." He said in his normal cold voice.
"You have both..? Then why are you here? Shouldn't you be at the tower in the middle?" I asked. He stayed silent for a minute before beginning to answer me. "...Yes. But I had to do something first." I tilted my head some in confusion. "Enough. Where are your teammates? Are they dead?" Gaara asked.
I quickly snapped my head back up. "Oh, right! I need to get back to them. Their not feeling so good right now so I came here to get some water for them." I looked passed Gaara and started to leave. Gaara grabbed my arm once I got behind him. "Wait." He kinda demanded.
I turned around to look at him. "What? I don't got all day." I say. He turns his attention towards me and let's go of my arm. "...You're like me. You have a beast inside of you. I wanted to ask you a few questions." He hesitated at first but finished his sentence clearly. "Alright, then come on. I don't have time to just stand here and talk so ask me on the way to my team." I said with a smile.
I started to quickly make my way back over to my team with Gaara close behind. We made it back in silence, but once we got there he started to talk. "Why... No, how are you so happy? Why do you want to help them? Didn't you get treated poorly?" I walked over to my two teammates and started to put the now wet rags on their heads.
"Happy? I guess you could say that. I'm always happy when I'm with my brother. He's the reason I'm here, actually. I would've given up all hope if it wasn't for him. And why I want to help them? Obviously because one is my brother. But also because their my friends. I don't have many friends so I want to cherish the ones I have.." I say with a small smile.
After realizing what I said, I quickly turned around to face Gaara with a blush. "B-but don't tell them I said that! I don't want any pity and I DEFINITELY don't want them feeling cocky!" I somewhat yelled.
Gaara was looking down when I looked at him. I got up from where I was and walked over to him. "Hey, you alright? Did I say something wrong?" He shook his head slightly then looked at me. "What's it like to care about someone? Or to have a friend? I've never felt that way.. Everytime I tried to trust someone, or be nice to them, they would hurt and leave me.." He spoke with hatred but it was obvious that he was sad.
I gave him a small smile. I was trying to be as nice and gentle as possible. Which, was pretty hard for someone like me. I gently took his hand with mine. It caused him to tense up but he didn't move away. "I'm sorry. I'm not really a good person to be around when it comes to things like this. But if it'll make you feel better, I'll be your friend and make sure you're never alone again." I continued to have a soft smile.
"You're lying. People say that because they fear me, but end up trying to kill me anyways!" He raised his voice but I didn't show any signs of fear. "I'm not one to lie about something like this. I know what it's like to be hated and judged. I won't say I know exactly how you feel, but I've felt pretty close to it. I understand that it's hard to trust, but if you really do want to know what friendship feels like, then trust me." I gave him a closed-eye smile and kept holding onto his hand.
He felt really cold but I could still find warmth somehow. He stayed silent but after a minute passed by he sighed. "I'll believe you... But that doesn't mean I trust you. I'll believe you because you know what it's like to suffer. But if you break this so called 'friendship' the worst will come your way." He talked in his normal deep voice, but I felt as though he was happy.
He pulled his hand away from me. "I need to go. You should take care of your team." Gaara turned around and was about to leave before looking at me and saying one more thing. "I better see you at the next part of this exam, Y/N." And with that, he was gone.
I felt my face heat up when he said my name. I know I was most likely imagining it, but I could've sworn I seen a smirk..
