We were hiding in a dark room where Soo Lin was doing her demonstration, waiting for her to show up. Sherlock tried to talk to me a few times (I know!), but I just ignored him.
"You're so childish." Sherlock quietly muttered after a few minutes.
"Excuse me?!" I blinked at him.
"You heard me."
"I am what?!"
"Childish."
"How dare yo- actually, forget it I just realised I am." I shrugged. "But you are too."
"I'm not!"
"You are."
"No!"
"Yes."
"No!"
"Yes."
"N-"
"Stop it!" John whisper-yelled. "She's here."
Sherlock and I both looked away from each other and noticed that Soo Lin indeed was here now and was doing her tea ritual. Sherlock stood up and sneaked up to her.
"Fancy a biscuit with that?" He didn't even finish the sentence and Soo Lin screamed and dropped the pot, but Sherlock luckily caught it before it hit the floor.
"Centuries old. Don't break that." Sherlock said looking up at Soo Lin and handing her the pot. "Hello."
I decided it was a good time for John and I to show up so we walked up to Sherlock.
"Good evening." John said.
"Hi." I whispered and sat on the chair opposite of Soo Lin. I told her about the cipher and what we needed from her.
"You saw the cipher. Then you know he's coming for me." Soo Lin said with strong Chinese accent.
"You've been clever to avoid him so far." Said Sherlock.
"I had to finish. To finish this work. It's only a matter of time. I know he will find me."
"Who is he? Have you met him before?" I asked.
"When I was a girl we met in China. I recognised his... signature."
"The cipher?" Sherlock asked, though it sounded more like a statement.
"Only he would do this. Zhi Zhu." Soo Lin said, and I could see a tiny trace of fear reflecting in her eyes as she said the name.
"Zhi Zhu?" John asked.
"The spider." Sherlock translated.
Soo Lin untied and took off her shoe and showed us a tattoo on her heel.
