a/n: I'm literally the worst at updating SORRY!!

A week later

Taylor pov:

I awoke to the bright sun shining, I walked downstairs followed by Olivia. I heard my phone ring from upstairs and walked back up Joe handing it to me,

"Hello?" I said into the phone

"Is this Ms. Swift?" The voice asked

"Yes" I said confused

"We have some important news about Mr. Porter, could I send a local commander to your home?" She asked

"Uh, yeah sure" I said and gave her my address

After I finished up the call I heard Addison come down stairs,

"Good morning," I smiled to her and she gave me a grin

Addison picked out some cereal and I just had some toast. Around noon is when the commander was coming by, I have a gut feeling that he died or something.

"What are we going to do today?" Addison asked

"We have our final day in court today" I smiled

"Yay! I don't like going to court though." Addison said

After Addison finished her cereal we laid on the couch and watched some cartoon she seemed to enjoy. I ran my fingers through Addison's short blonde hair as she was rested up against me. I heard three knocks a the door. I carefully got up as to not wake Addison up. When I opened the door a man dressed in a military uniform appeared in the door.

"Hi, I'm Commander Calhoun, are you Ms. Swift?" He asked and I nodded "May I come in?"

I opened the door allowing him to come in, I led him to the kitchen where we sat down at the table.

"Thank you for allowing me in your home Ms. Swift." He said "I do have some devastating news about Mr. Porter Addison's father."

"The commandant of the Marine Corps has entrusted me to express his deep regret that, Mr. Porter was killed in action overseas on Wednesday. The commandant extends his deepest sympathy to you and his daughter Addison." He said and I was speechless, Addison has no parents no mom no dad.

Seeing as my parents are such a big part of my life and now Addison doesn't have any made me burst into tears.

Once the commander left, I dried up my tears. What am I supposed to do now? How do I tell a little girl her dad died?

Addison was on the couch watching TV, I knew I couldn't tell her now.

"Hey Addison I'll be right down I need to make a call." I tell her and she nods her head

I go upstairs into my room and lay on my bed, dialling Joes number. After a few tones he picks up

"Hi Taylor," He says joyfully

"Hi" I say trying to match his joy

"What's wrong?" He asks me,

I tell him everything, and he doesn't say anything, I take his silence as a response

"I have no clue how to tell her." I say to him, referring to Addison

"Let's tell her together. Have you called the judge yet?" He asks

"No, I wanted to tell you first. But you need to get back to work." I tell him

"Okay, I'll see you later. If you need me to come home or anything call me." He says "I love you."

"I love you." I say then hang up.
I go back downstairs to where Addison was laying on the couch watching Frozen.

The only thing playing through my mind was telling her, as I looked down at her unknowing innocence my heart broke.

How do I tell a little girl that her dad died?

I went back into the kitchen and leaned my elbows on the counter, letting it all out but trying to not be too loud.

We are all she's got...

I dried my eyes and went back and sat with Addison trying to not think about telling her.
