The next day, Damien was still acting weird. He kept on insisting that it was nothing, so I tried my best not to bother him about it too much. Alec ate lunch with us and apologized for not showing up yesterday. He had to do something in the counselor's office with his schedule. Damien hardly said two words the entire lunch.

That night, I went to Damien's house to finish working on our paper for English. We finished it surprisingly quickly, so we decided to just hang out for a while after. We were in his room sitting on his bed talking when Alec came up in our conversation.

"What do you think of him?" I asked.

"Of Alec?"

"Uh, yeah. That's who we're talking about..." I said in a 'duh' tone.

"Right. Uhm, he's ok I guess. What do you think about him?" Damien asked, taking the spotlight off of himself for probably the twentieth time. He kept avoiding talking about his opinions or his thoughts all night and kept asking me questions instead. I didn't say anything because I was just glad that he wasn't acting like he had been at school.

"I like him. I mean, he seems cool and he's nice. I'm surprised he's still hanging out with us. I would have thought he would have went and sat with the more popular kids," I said truthfully.

"Yeah, I thought that too at first. Just wait until Sarah comes back though. If she flirts with him like she did to me when we were at your house, he'll probably change schools again," Damien said with a grin.

I wonder if Sarah heard from anyone about him yet.

"Hey, we should text Sarah and tell her that there's a new kid. She'll probably bite my head off if she comes back to school and no one told her about the new hot blond."

Damien looked at me and gave me a fake-sad face and said, "You think he's hot?"

"Well, he's definitely good looking. I don't know if I would consider him hot, but I'm sure Sarah would. Here, I'm going to text her," I said, pulling my phone out of my pocket. I most definitely did consider him hot. But I wasn't going to say that to Damien, who I liked a lot.

Hey, are you feeling better yet?

"What did you text her?" Damien asked after I sent the message.

"I asked if she was feeling  any better."

"Oh, yeah being sick sucks."

"Yeah, oh hang on. She texted back."

A little. I didn't puke today, so that's a plus. But I still feel like crap.

I replied with, Well, you need to get better soon. There's a new kid at school and he's been eating lunch with Damien and I lately. Blond, fit, and he's smart.

I chuckled then hit send.

"How is she?" Damien asked.

"She said she didn't puke today, but she still feels bad. I told her about Alec."

What?! You're joking right? It's the end of the year why would someone move here?

"She thinks I'm kidding," I said, laughing at the text.

No, I'm dead serious. You've got to get better before he realizes that we're not the kind of people he would hang out with. I'm surprised he hasn't been sitting with the popular kids.

"So, you know how I told you that Alec's parents split up because of some major thing?" I asked Damien.

"Uh, yeah I think you said something like that."
