Chapter 9: Regicide

~CINDERS POV~

It was finally time, Chase was going to kill Salem and we would rule over all Grimm, they would do our bidding, appear when we want them to appear, we would be the King and Queen of it all.

We were all in front of the castle, nervous about what was to come next, we didn't want to die, but we'd were willing to risk our lives to overthrow Salem, that was our plan, to rule side-by-side.

I looked over to Winter to see her looking defiant, but I could still see how nervous she was. I looked at Chase afterwards, and he was sweating a little. I nudged him a little to make him look at me.

"You'll win Chase, I promise." I told him, I meant it but I wasn't 100% sure if I believed it. He nodded anyways and looked over at Winter, who nodded at him.

"SALEM!!!" He yelled, I was surprised at how brave he was being by immediately calling her out, but I wasn't sure if it was smart.

After a second, we saw her leave the castle through the main doors and see Chase.

"Chase Morpheus, What brings you here?" She asked, it was my turn to be visibly nervous now, Salem raised me and here I am on the side of someone who wants to overthrow her.

"I'm here to finally end all of this, I will defeat you and when I do, I'll be king." He told her, I noticed that there was no sweat on him now, despite being face to face with the closest thing to a god that Remnant might've ever known.

"Is that so?" She asked him, he nodded while slowly pulling out his pistols. Salem looked at me and shook her head.

"Alright. If that is how it is going to be, then let us begin." She told him, then immediately made hundreds of Grimm surround the four of us.

I wasn't nervous about the Grimm, I was nervous at the fact that Salem could take advantage of any one of us while distracted. What She didn't account for though was that I was with Chase to the very end, so I created a ring of fire around us and made it quickly expand, killing all the Grimm but doing nothing to the queen.

"Cinder...you are with him?" She asked, sounding hurt but I knew that she had no room for emotion in that evil heart.

"You're damn right I am." I told her, my nerves now gone.

"And you?" She asked while looking at Winter, who nodded.

"Through thick and thin." She told her, so Salem got mad and extended her arms to grab mine and Winters faces, and immediately pulled us down so we went face first into the ground.

Chase attempted to fight against the queen, but got overpowered. Salem just threw him around the whole place.

"Come on, I expected a fight." I heard Salem tell him, so I threw a fire ball at her back. She looked back at me with Chase pinned to the ground, but Winter stabbed her through the back. Salem looked at her and stood up, Winter wasn't scared, even though Salem was about to kill her.

But Chase sprung to his feet and wrapped his arm around Salem's neck, trying to choke her, thing is, Salem doesn't have to breathe, so she just threw him over herself and into Winter.

"This isn't working!" Chase yelled to me, I nodded and summoned my swords and slashed at Salem's back, tearing the dress she was in. She looked back at me very quickly and I got into an offensive position.

She summoned her own swords, made out of what looked like Grimm armour of something and started slashing at me, but I blocked all of her attempts at hitting me.

"I am sorry little one, but I have to end this." She told me, then slashed at my head with one of her swords, so I had to use both my swords to block, but she used the other sword to stab my stomach.
