Chapter 8: Honesty

~CHASES POV~

I had legitimately fallen in love with Winter, she was gorgeous, serious, playful, she may not be everyone's cup of tea, but she is mine.

I was in our bedroom, she was out at work and I was messaging Cinder. You see, Cinnamon Fae isn't a real person, Cinder dyed her hair blonde and got blue contact lenses and posed as a witness to get Weiss out of the way of our plan. Our plan involved Winter, yes, but I wasn't supposed to actually love her.

'How's everything going at the Schnee place??' She messaged me, so I told her the truth.

'I asked Winter to marry me' I told her, it was a moment before she responded. Then she called me, I answered almost immediately.

"Chase, this wasn't a part of the plan, you weren't supposed to love her." She told me, I winced a little at her angry tone.

"We can make this work babe, I'll control The Schnee Dust Company with Winter by my side, then we can do the second part." I told her, she thought about it and hummed a little.

"Alright, I guess this is the better way to go about it actually." She told me, I laughed a little.

"Now look...I am actually in love with Winter, and I'm not willing to let her go..." I told her, not knowing what to expect next.

"...maybe we can share you then, if she loves you as much as I do, then she won't want to lose you either." She told me, I was really surprised. She actually loved me?

"Chase?" I heard her say on the other side, I shook my head and brought myself out of my trance.

"Sorry..." I told her, I heard her laugh slightly.

"You zoned out for a few seconds there." She told me, I smiled.

"You've never told me you love me before." I told her, she took a second.

"Haven't I? I could've sworn I had." She asked me, I laughed a little.

"You haven't ever said the words 'i love you' to me before." I told her, she didn't take so long to respond this time.

"Dammit! Well, I love you, Okay? Happy now?" She asked me, so I laughed a little more.

"I love you too Cin." I told her, I could tell she was smiling. Then I heard a knock at the door.

"Alright, I have to go, someone's here. I'll talk to you later." I told her, she agreed and we hung up.

"Come in!" I told the person, and they did exactly that, my soon to be father-in-law walked into the room.

"Hello son." He told me playfully, he started calling me son a little after I proposed so that he could get used to it.

"Hey Jacques, what's up?" I asked him, he walked further into the room and sat beside me on my bed.

"Chase, how would you feel being the head of the Schnee Dust Company?" He asked me, I was surprised that he would ask so quickly.

"I-I would be honoured!" I told him, he smiled at me.

"I knew you would. You know, you're a lot like I was when I was your age." He told me, I was confused.

"In love? Dangerous?" I asked him, he smiled and shook his head.

"Ambitious." He told me, all that did was add to the confusion.

"You're an ambitious young man Chase, you're only young and you're ready to take control of the biggest company in Remnant, you're marrying my daughter, and I know you've got plans for this place to make it be even bigger than I could have ever made it. I took this company from Willows father and I did things he could never have done. With your guidance, this place will evolve further than it ever could have before." He told me, I nodded as he kept complimenting me, he was much better than my father...
