Ashton's POV
I quickly walked into the precinct, mostly because I can't stand the guy. And what's ironically unfortunate is I have to work with him. Damn it!
Sasha stubbornly followed me in like she usually does, "Ashton, you're making a scene."
"I'm making scene?! Open your eyes, Sasha. We're working with - not one but two egotistical immortals!""I'm not self-centred!" Lieutenant Samuelson and Balthazar synchronized.
"Ashton, please. We need to help them."
"We don't know who they are exactly! Lieutenant Samuelson has been lying to us for years!"
"Detective Cane!" Lieutenant said angrily and firmly.
I shut my mouth.
"Did you honestly think that I wanted to lie to you? Any of you? Let's be real, you would have never believed me, for starters. And secondly, you would have put me in some mental institute. Now, am I lying?"
A rhetorical question at the end, classy.
"Am I lying, Detective Cane?"
"No, Lieutenant."
"Good, now close your eyes."
"Seriously?!"
"Just do it, both of you!"
"Balthazar."
As Sasha and I closed my eyes, I felt a bright white light entered the room, and it somehow entered through my eyelids, which sort of burns.
Balthazar's POV
I released a bright light from my hand that fill the room. I only spread it to the end of the hall and a few seconds later, I stopped it.
"Okay, open them." Lieutenant Samuelson said.
"What was that?" Ashton asked.
"What you experienced has many names, but I'll just call it the 'light of forgetness'."
"'Light of Forgetness'?" Ashton was completely baffled.
"It's way better than the Latin, German, and Russian languages. Trust me."
"Okay. We should do a background check and find..."
"And punish the person responsible, my true specialty. Where is Halle?"
"She should have been here by now." Lieutenant Samuelson said curiously.
"Unless, you scared her," Ashton said keenly.
"I'm going to go and talk to her."
"No, Antonius, I will."
"You're sure?"
"I'm simply going to talk to her and convince her that she shouldn't be afraid of me."
"No offense, but that's gonna take a lot of convincing."
"Well, I'll do my very best," I said optimistically.
I walked to the forensics' room.
"Break a leg." Ashton said.
I could literally feel everyone's intensely filled eyes upon him.
"What?"
Halle's POV
I got into my forensics lab quickly and locked the door behind me. I was completely baffled by the unfortunate turn of events, I was practically shaking so I tried to calm myself, but it wasn't working. Maybe it was my serious lack of concentration so I tried again, but, before I could someone knocked at the door.
I jumped timidly, I held my terror in and said, "Who is it?"
"It's me, Balthazar."
"What do you want?!"
"I just want to talk to you."
"Why!?"
"Because there are still things that you do not understand! And I'm here to help."
"You're freaking hybrid, Mr. Michaels! Is that... Is that even your real name?"
"I have no last names, I just make aliases in order to sway certain eyes, because they would have find it completely strange."
"But you are strange."
"Yes, yes, I am. I'm not lying about that, but you can still trust me."
"Why should I?"
"Because I will never hurt anyone."
I slowly walked to the door, and breathe in and out slightly before letting him in.
"I'm sorry I scared you."
"I forgive you, come in."
"Nice laboratory."
"Thanks."
"So did you get to..."
"Test to see if your theory was correct, no. I tried to calm myself down, but, every time I do I..."
"I kept on entering your mind."
I sighed.
"I don't mind if you're still unnerved with me being here."
"I'm not, because I feel like I can trust you."
"So no need to be unnerved?"
"Fortunately. Anyway, let's check out the DNA sample. I carefully rubbed this cotton wool betwixt her teeth and I gotta say it is a liquid."
"And you're checking to see if it's the liquid you think it is.
"Well, that's what I'm going to test and find out."
I test it through my hardware and it carefully analyzed the wool. And the results were in.
"It's Bourbon." I was totally shocked.
"Told ya. 1876 New Edition."
"You really do know her."
"Can sort of friend would I be if I didn't?" He said rhetorically.
"It says that it was manufactured by "Dante's Liquors & Cocktails"."
"Her favourite place. Perhaps we should go visit Mister Dante."
Antonius' POV
We waited on Balthazar for the updates on the killer, I thought it would have been some piece of cake, but, unsurprisingly, it was totally 'unnerving' in a sense. Their eyes were on me, totally burning every inch of my clothes just so that they can get a reaction from me.
"So how do you heal?"
"I thought the first question was: How did I become immortal?"
"Balthazar already told us," Sasha said. "He also said that he had no choice."
"He didn't had a choice because he's self-less. He would do, give anything for the people he cares about. Anyways, I heal faster than everyone. Humans like Halle. But when I heal everything just heightens itself, my invulnerability and the accelerated healing."
"So that's why when I punched you in the face, I broke my hand." Ashton said keenly.
"Yeah, trust me, it wasn't intentional."
"So how fast do you heal?"
"Bullets and punches inflicted on the heart or the skin within seconds. But, there was a time I took about a minute to heal from a bullet that pierced through my brain. And as for grenades and nuclear weapons, let's just say that it's gruesome."
"So if you're blown in half, they would be two of you?" Ashton asked curiously.
"I'm immortal, Ashton. Hence they can only be one of me." I explained plainly.
