It wasn't until nearly midnight when Jackie returned to the cabin. He locked the door behind himself and peaked into the kitchen. As usual, there was a plate of food covered with a paper towel waiting for him on the counter. Another habit Jamie got into when Jackie would be out late. Jackie tried as quietly to heat up his food. Steak and potatoes, Jamie was such a good cook.
Jackie scarfed down his food and headed to his room. He stopped outside the door and looked across the hall. Two doors. One hadn't been opened in so long. It had been nearly three months since Chase left, and they haven't heard anything about him or Anti since then. He's been strangely quiet. Part of him is relieved, but he doesn't want to let his guard down.
The hero is about to head to sleep, when something stops him. There's a sound coming from Marvin's room. It sounds like heavy breathing. Concerned, Jackie tip toes closer to the door, listening closely. He can hear what sounds like grunting. Almost like Marvin's in pain. Lightly he taps on the door. 'Hey Marv, you okay in there?"
There's a moment of silence as Jackie just stands there. "Come in Jackie," Marvin finally says, sounding slightly strained. When he walks in, Marvin is sitting on the edge of his bed, his hair is tossed around, and he has his mask on. Jackie looks at this confused. He doesn't usually wear it unless he's either performing or it's something to do with his eye.
"Your eye bothering you again?" He asked, slowly walking in.
Marvin takes a deep breath. "Yeah. I'm okay though," He explains. Jackie doesn't completely believe him though.
He looks at the magician skeptically. Instead of asking directly, he asked something that's been on his mind for a while. "Any visions?" Marvin rolled his eyes and turned away from the hero. "Marv I'm sorry, I just,"
"I know you need to find Anti. You need to get your revenge."
"I need answers!" Jackie suddenly yelled. He took a deep breath, calming himself. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell. Don't you want to find him too?" Marvin just lowered his head. He fumbled with the sheet covering his lap. Suddenly it hit him. "You don't do you? That's why it's been bothering you. You're resisting it aren't you."
Marvin removed his mask and set it aside. He kept facing away from Jackie though. "You don't get it Jackie. Last time I tried to control these stupid vision, I saw myself die. And since then they keep coming to me," He turned to the hero. His third eye was wide open, it was bloodshot red now from the visions being rejected. "I've seen all of you die in a million ways. I don't want to have to see that really happen."
Marvin decided a long time ago that the best way to avoid a future like that, he needed to stop those vision. He didn't want to know where Anti was. He didn't want to fight him again. He didn't even care if Chase didn't come back, he just wanted his friends to be alive.
Jackie sighed and rubbed Marvin's arms comforting. "I understand Marvin. I'm sorry I won't push it anymore," He said. Although he didn't want to. Marvin was their best chance of finding him, but he couldn't stand to see the young magician like this. He was normally so full of energy and positivity. Even after all that happened, he kept his head high. He assumed it had something to do with Jamie though.
Guess I'll have to find the glitch the old fashioned way. He patted Marvin on the should reassuringly. "Get some sleep buddy. Don't worry about it anymore, okay?" Marvin nodded and watched as the hero left.
The magician rubbed his temple, his third eye finally closing. He felt a wave of relief. The whole time Jackie was in there, Marvin was being overwhelmed with his constant changing emotions. He laid back in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. His eyes slowly closed, as he tried to do what Jackie suggested, and not think too much about it.
