Meeting a stranger who happens to already have won over her grandfather wasn't exactly on her schedule but in that second as she led the said man into the lawn for a private mini-meeting then she realized that now was the time of action. Aashka never relied on people's looks and certainly that day, it wasn't the requirement. It was the moment of finding the truth.
The truth of a snake in case hidden behind that good face! You get the idea!
As the couple approached the patio set, Harsh gave her a warm smile which she returned with a simple nod. What else are you supposed to do if a stranger smile at you?
Certainly, you can't dance in ecstasy now on being the woman who got a smile from a good-looking guy, can you?
Anyways, they sat opposite to the other; an awkward silence brewed between them as Aashka deliberated over her scheme. Once she begins, there was no turning back, and if she didn't then her father would call a continuous world-war on her grandfather. But that deal is for another time. Let's concentrate on the task at hand.
She made up her mind only when she found Harsh gazing at her keenly; she avoided meeting his eyes and concentrated on the shadow of the rainbow-coloured umbrella falling in the nearby pool.
One thing she never liked was looking in people's eyes; it might be something unusual on her part, but the idea wasn't very pleasant for her. She had asked the same from her parents and both had said, it was nothing. Some people didn't just like it—after all, we were different.
She took a deep breath, looked straight at his face to find any signs of amusement of the moment; she didn't find any, so she inquired right away, "So, Harsh don't you want to ask me something?"
"Am....I actually don't know what to ask first so if you have anything to say, you can begin." Harsh said, trying to sound as convincing as he could. Aashka shook her head not buying it.
Never believe the first goody-good line said by the guys!
"Yeah. I've tons to ask and see." She said confidently; straightened on her feet, stood tall in front of his sitting figure, gave him a curious look and crossed her arms over her chest.
Seeing him still sitting in confusion, she ordered, "Stand-up."
He frowned unable to infer the reason for her quick change.
"Lay down." She said again, and he continued to look at her.
"Jog." He looked around the lawn confused.
"Do Sit-ups." He bowed his head to check his appearance from his black sports shoes to his white T-shirt. Wasn't he smart enough even if he dressed the best?
"Do push-ups." He scratched his head this time as if his presence has caused the girl to lose her mind. Perhaps, he was an unhealthy brat. Too bad!
"I haven't lost my mind, Mr Sehgal but you just went under the Influence Check Approach," Aashka announced taking her seat back on her chair giving him a victorious grin.
Did she know mind reading as well?
"What does that mean?"
"Well, according to the research most men are easy to come under influence of people and distrust their partners over petty things. I was just checking if you have a naïve mind to follow my every order or you've a mind of your own. If you were faking something, you'd be offended by now, maybe going ballistic over me because I may have hurt your pride but since you're still sitting here in a confused manner, it somewhat clarifies that you don't allow people to rule over your head, but this doesn't mean that I say yes to you."
Aashka clarified knitting her one brow. Instead, of saying anything he looked straight into her eyes trying to read the truth in them. And he indeed found a lot.
"If I say I was as well checking your personality so what would be your answer?"
"MY answer is-," she paused taking her sweet time in raising his curiosity to know.
"I'll reply what did you find worth in me to say yes and unworthy to say no?"
It's just a glimpse of the scene; when I post it there might be differences.
So let me know what you think?
