Y/N POV
--Flashback to Last Night--
Dustin is sitting next to me, and I can't stop laughing. I never noticed how funny he was before tonight. I mean, sure, he made jokes, but I had never really paid attention to him before. I guess I was so busy obsessing over Mike that I never noticed.
As I sat there, completely oblivious to everyone else around me, I realized that I really liked Dustin. Maybe... I liked him as more than a friend.
All of a sudden Mike stood up.
"Okay, you guys. It's getting late. You should probably go home." I could tell that something was bothering him, but I didn't know what. I just knew that his cheeks were red, and I could almost sense the anger that was coming off of him from where I was sitting.
"Relax, Mike. It's not a school night or anything." Dustin said to Mike. They made eye contact, and if looks could kill, Dustin would have dropped dead right then and there.
"Dustin, I don't need to relax. I'm tired. I want to go to sleep." Mike said through his teeth. He sighed and put his hands on his hips.
"Mike, is something going on?" I said and stood up. I walked over to Mike and looked into his eyes. He looked at me, and it felt like he was mad at me for some reason. I had to look away from those harsh eyes.
"No. I already told you. I'm fine. I'm just tired." He rolled his eyes.
"Mike, why are you acting so rude?" I took a step forward and got in his face. He had never acted like this before.
"I'm not!" He stepped towards me and our noses were almost touching. We stood like that for at least 30 seconds before I broke away.
"Yes you are!" I walked over to the steps as quickly as I could and ran. I had to get out of here, or I was going to explode.
I burst into the kitchen and noticed Mrs. Wheeler standing in the kitchen. She looked confused.
"Is something wrong? It sounded like you guys were shouting down there." I plastered a fake smile on my face and ran to the front door. I could hear Mike's footsteps closing in behind me. As I grabbed my coat I ripped open the door and stepped into the dark night. The cold air bit my face as the wind blew through my hair.
"Y/n, wait!" Mike was yelling to me. "Stop! Please! Just wait a second!" I spun around on my foot.
"For what? For you to be rude and kick me out again?! I don't know what's going on with you, Mike, but ever since Eleven left the first time, you haven't been the same. You were sad at first, and we were all there to comfort you. But now, you just seem angry all the time! I don't even know if I can call you my best friend anymore." I turned around and folded my arms, waiting for him to say something.
"Y/n, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude! Something has just been bothering me recently." He looked behind him as the other's came out the front door. They were all watching us in shock. Me and Mike had never yelled at each other before.
"What is bothering you, Mike?" I stepped closer to him. I wanted him to tell me the truth.
"It's not important." He didn't make eye contact with me.
"Mike, look at me! Friends don't lie. Isn't that what you told El?" I was trying to get him to open up, and I could tell it was starting to work.
"Yeah, but-" He looked at Dustin, then Will, then Lucas, pleading for help. But it was too late for that now.
"Mike! Tell me the truth now!" I shook his shoulders and made him look at me.
We stared into each other's eyes, and Mike looked like he had snapped. I thought he was about to hit me, but when he started to move, it wasn't his hand that connected with my face. It was his lips.
Suddenly, he was kissing me. Even worse, I was kissing him back, because I didn't know what to do. It had all happened so fast, and I had waited for this moment for so long, but now, it just didn't feel right.
I pushed him away and he looked at me, confusion and hurt in his eyes.
"What are you doing?" I yelled. I looked past him, trying to make eye contact with El. I wanted to tell her that I didn't mean to hurt her, but she was already gone. She must have run into the house while me and Mike were still kissing.
"I'm sorry." Mike whispered. It was so quiet, I could barely hear it, but I did. He looked truly sorry, and for the first time in my life, I just stood there with nothing to say. I was speechless.
I couldn't just stand there anymore, so I ran. I ran all the way home, and I didn't look back.
