Toothless woke up to Hiccup thrashing around. He seemed to be in some sort of a horrible nightmare and couldn't get out of it.
"No... NO DON'T HURT HIM, STOP... STOP IT... NOOOOO,"
Hiccup shot up gasping his eyes wide and covered in sweat. He turned around to see Toothless.
"Hiccup... are you okay," Toothless asked.
Hiccup scrambled over to Toothless and hugged his neck while crying.
"Your not dead," he whispered.
Toothless' eyes widened as he realized what Hiccup must have been dreaming about. He embraced the young prince and whispered back, "I'm still here."
Hiccup wiped his tears and stood up. His dream felt so vivid. He was back on Berk, in a cage as he watched his brother get tortured by the Vikings. He saw his former father cut off the head of his best friend and showed it to Hiccup.
He was so scared and hurt. But he realized that it was only just a dream.
Toothless led Hiccup to the main chamber where Frost was currently residing. Hiccup looked at the king as he rose to meet Hiccups gaze.
Frost had felt Hiccup's fear and sorrow from all the way in the main chamber, his son was very distraught and felt scared. He needed to find out why.
"Hello my son," Frost said to Hiccup as he blew an icy mist at the young prince. Hiccup laughed and gave Frost a small smile which quickly vanished as his thoughts went back to the nightmare.
"What is wrong my son," Frost asked, noticing Hiccup's change of mood.
Hiccup told Frost the dream of which he had.
"I'm afraid that someday Berk will come and take Toothless away from me," Hiccup said.
Frost motioned for Hiccup to come closer, and nuzzled the Prince.
"Do not worry my son, I will make sure that no one will even try to harm you or Toothless, I promise, Frost said, "now, tell me what your life was like before you became the prince."
Hiccup told Frost about how everyone in his village bullied him and called him names such as useless and fishbone. He told him about finding Toothless and getting to bond with him and eventually leaving Berk with him after his dad disowned him and called him a coward.
Toothless meanwhile was angry after hearing Hiccup's entire life story. A tribe should be like a pack, everyone looking out for one another even during the worst of times. Hiccup had to endure so much.
Frost nuzzled Hiccup once more before saying,
"I promise, with all my heart, you will never have to experience anything like that again. We will treat you with love and compassion and friendship. You deserve that and much more."
Hiccup smiled before saying,
"Thanks dad," and hugged the tusk of his new father.
Frost purred before saying,
"We here at the icy nest will teach you how to be the dragon prince.
Hiccup smiled,
"When does my training start?"
Frost replied,
"A week, get yourself settled into the nest. Spend sometime with your brother. No need to rush."
Finally! I know you guys have been waiting for this chapter and here it is! Sorry it's a little short but I will add some brotherly fluff between hiccup and toothless next chapter!
