Prologue

Xi Yinghua is the legitimate daughter of Prime Minister Xi Liang in the Kingdom of Li. Twenty-one years ago, the young Prime Minister who was then a promising scholar met and married her mother, Ying Taohua, declaring that he loved her whole-heartedly. Her mother was just a naive 16-year old then married her father out of love. As the daughter of a poor farmer and a former courtesan, she has always been mocked by the villagers, but her mother persevered because her father was there for her then and treated her well.

It all changes when her father achieved the number one rank during the Imperial Examination and been given a post as a magistrate. He then takes a secondary wife who comes from a prominent family. Her mother is still the main wife, but he never comes back to take her out of the dreadful village. When there was a plague spread through the village, both of her maternal grandparents succumbed to the illness. Her mother left the village after she buried both of her parents and went to the imperial city to search for her father only to be rejected by him.

Her mother decided to stay within the imperial city and worked at a restaurant owned by a pair of a kind elderly couple. She worked hard despite being heavily pregnant then. And, when she has given birth, she just left a letter and a pair of cherry blossoms jade earrings for her newly borne daughter. In the middle of the night, she left her newborn daughter in front of the main door gate of the then Magistrate Xi Liang. Her father took her in and somewhat raised her due to his guilty conscience. Her stepmother never bothered about her as she was focusing on her pregnancy then.

As a newborn, she was left at a faraway courtyard with a nanny and her daughter whom then become her personal maidservant as she grows up. Both mother and daughter are her only family members even though they are not related to each other. When she was a 10-year old, her nanny has suddenly passed away due to her long-time illness, leaving her 11-year old daughter alone in the world. She went to meet up with her father and stepmother and asked for their permission for Mingli to continue to stay at her courtyard as her only personal maidservant. They allowed it without saying much and dismissed her back to her courtyard. 

Being the legitimate yet unfavoured daughter of the Prime Minister made her remained unmarried till the ripe age of 20-yeard old. Mingli has married another servant in their manor, Rui An, but she continues to work as her personal maidservant. Who knew that by the end of her 20 years of living, the Emperor has decreed for the old unmarried maiden of the Prime Minister's family to become his half-brother's Wangfei, the infamously cruel and bloodthirsty prince. Poor Xi Yinghua is so terrified that it resulted in her early death in the marriage palanquin. A heart attack. How tragic is that?

"Xi Yinghua... You are just so amazing! How on earth can you die from a heart attack just because you are terrified of someone whom you never even met before? How laughable!?!?! Whatever... Who am I to comment on your death when mine is caused by an accidental slip on a banana peel. Whoever threw that banana peel there will be cursed for nine generations! Damn it! I better be given a premonition who is that person's ancestor. I might kill his or her ancestor to prevent that person from ever being born!" She silently thought to herself.

She has just been promoted as a Police Inspector of the Special Investigation Division. Being an orphan, she worked hard to achieve her dream. And, her life ended because of a damn banana peel! That damn banana peel made her slipped and fell down the stairs for goodness sake! She can feel pains all over her body during her accidental fall. The strong impact on her head when she reached the bottom of the stairs resulted in her accidental death there and then. Her years of hard work gone in an instant just because someone decided not to throw his or her banana peel into the rubbish bin.

But, surprise... She has migrated into an ancient time to take over this pitiable legitimate daughter of the ungrateful son of a bitch, Prime Minister Xi. They thought that she will live in sufferings after she enters the Yao Residence right... Let us just wait and see. For more than 30 years, she has been living in the orphanage and endured multiple hardships while growing up. She even undergoes intensive training to become a police officer and has become the top student in the police academy. She even faced many dangerous criminals during her stint in the Investigation and Planning Division.

Just throw her inside that so-called cruel and bloodthirsty man's residence. She will not stay put if he dares to do anything. That so-called family of hers too will pay for sending this naive young miss without any care at all. She takes a deep breathe as the voice inside her heard slowly becomes further and further. Xi Yinghua is no longer in this world. She will live her life as Xi Yinghua from this day onwards.
