Chloe locked her phone with a smile, a warm feeling in her heart. She found herself in a daze, staring off into the distance and imagining her possible future.

"Hello? Earth to Chloe," Lydia called, waving a manicured hand in front of her face. Chloe snapped out of her trance, the corners of her mouth still turned up into a wide grin.

"Sorry," she muttered sheepishly, placing both hands on her cheeks to hide the flush spreading across them.

"Just date already," Madison groaned, tossing a pillow at her friend's head. Chloe caught it, shooting Maddie a pointed look.

"Mads, stop."

"Why? You both clearly have feelings for each other, yet you both do nothing about it," she spoke bluntly, something Chloe had grown used to throughout their friendship.

"Because," she started, sighing and tossing the pillow back, "we're friends, and if we tried to date and if it didn't work out and I lost him I would hate myself for it."

Lydia and Maddie locked eyes, sharing a sad look. They had been trying to set the two of them up since the moment they met, but she shot them down every time.

"Wouldn't you like to know if it would work though?" Lydia asked, "I mean, it would be the same friendship, just with added benefits."

Chloe let out an airy laugh, "Of course I'd like to know if it would work, but there's no way to tell without actually dating him, and I don't think I could do that."

"Okay, if you say so," Maddie gave in reluctantly. Normally she would push until Chloe spilled, but for some reason there was something off about the sad look in her eyes.

Lydia and Maddie knew Chloe better than anybody, and they both had gut feelings that there was something more to it. Chloe had never had a real boyfriend. She always ended up hurt, a crying mess that her friends were left to fix.

"I have something to tell you guys," Chloe exclaimed, clapping her hands together in an excited fashion.

Both pairs of eyes were immediately trained on Chloe, not expecting such a sudden change in emotion.

"I got that role I was telling you guys about."

"Holy shit, Chloe!" Maddie yelled, immediately wrapping both arms around her.

Lydia squealed, joining her two best friends in a group hug. They all sat on Chloe's couch in a tight embrace, large smiles on each of their faces.

"You have to post about it, Chlo, tell everybody!"

Okay, I tried something new? I was finding it difficult to move certain aspects of the story along with only social media, so let me know how you felt about the little writing section. If you hated it I won't do it again.

Also, I know I've been updating less frequently. That's just because school started up again and I'm trying to be productive this year. I've been prewriting this weekend, so prepare for some updates!

Feedback is one of the main things that motivates me to keep writing, so just know that if you've left a comment it probably inspired me to write a chapter or plan another story (coming soon (; )
