Chapter one: Swimming

MEGANS POV

"Beep,beep,bee-" I hit the alarm clock so it would stop going off. "Uggg" I groaned and sat up in my bed. I looked around my room of Mrs.Sunshines orphanage for kids. i scrunched my nose. I hated this place. I looked out my window to see the sun shining and birds chirping on this great Los Angeles summer morning. another thing i hated about this place. We have alarms in SUMMER. thier logic is, "If you sleep in too late, youlll miss all of lifes opportunities!" I chuckled a bit. That was so stupid- My thoughts were cut off by the head of the oprphanage barging in my room "Get up! Get up! Your going to miss breakfeast!" And with that she left. 

i groaned and went over to my dresser. I grabbed black shorts and a muscle tee and a bandeau. i changed and put my hair in a pony tail. And i grabbed my drawstring back pack and threw my phone and charger in it. before leaving I checked the mirror. I have brown hair and blue eyes and glasses. i sighed and grabbed my penny board and went to my friend jessicas room down the hall from mine.

JESSICAS POV

I was just finishing up on my eyeliner when there was a knock on my door. i look in the mirror and study my brown eyes and brown hair. Damn i was plain. Eh, oh well. I head over to the door not before trippin on a pair of tennis shoes. I slam onto the ground. I lay there with a throbbing face and shout, "ITS OPEN."  I hear the door open and close. "Um, Jess what are you doing?" It was Meg. I roll over and say "Nothing wbu?" She laughs and says "Going to grab breakfeast before going to the pond. Wanted to see if you wanted to come." I extend my hand. "Sure, but help me up first." She rolls her eyes and helps me up. I walk over and grab my backpack. i throw my phone and charger in it. "Ready?" I ask and Meg nods. I grab my penny board and we walk out of my room.

"Thinking what im thinking?" A smirk spread accross her face. "Penny board race to the kitchen?" She nods and put her board on the ground and so do I. "3..2...1!" And we hop on our boards and fly down the hallway to the elavator. I was in the lead until we cam up to a corner and i wasnt paying attention and ran into the wall while Meg turned. I quickly shook it off and took off again. By the time i got to the elavator Meg was already there. "What took you so long?" I rolled my eyes and pressed down on the elavator. We hopped in and made our way to the kitchen.

MEGANS POV

 We got down to the kitchen and i grabbed a granola bar and a biscut. Jessica got bacon. Just bacon. I rolled my eyes and found a seat. Me and jess sat down and started talking when a voice came over the speaker. "Hello. if you are going out today be back by 3:30. Its adoption day!!" And the voice went off. "Ug why do we even go to this?" jess shaked her head "Cause were forced to." I nod and say "Lets go." She nods and we walk out of the orphanage. We hop on our boards and start heading towards the beach. We got there and i took in a big breath. Yay. Sea air. "Ready?" I say to jess and she nods. And we run into the water.

but one important thing. Were mermaids.

sure enough as soon as we hit water, tails. We turn and my aqua tail sprouts and my shirt is changed into a scaley bikini top and i can breath underwater. Its the most amazing feeling. I smile annd look around for a green finn. I see a shimmer of green and swim over to her. I tap her shoulder and she jumps and turns to face me. She pushes me and i roll my eyes and go up to the surface. I come up and so does Jess. "Dont ya just love morning swims?" I say and laugh a bit. "Yeah." She nods. "Lets go to the pond." I say going underwater. She comes under with me and we torpedo off.

we eventually came to some coral reefs. Almost to the pond. Oh, you dont know what the pond is. is a little fish pond on an island, when you step in it, it sucks you down into a pool of water surrounded by rocks. A little mermaid secret i suppose. Me and Jess slow down and come up to the surface. Shit. There was a boat beached upon shore of the island with the pond entrance. Jesss gave me a worried look "Do we check it out?" I gulped 'We have too." And we went under and headed for shore.
