Chapter 5: Adoption Day

Hey, if anyone is even reading this, sorry i haven't updated. My computer was broken and I was writing the last couple chapters on my IPod. But I got a new laptop sooo I will try to update on the weekends! I'm writing this right now bc I'm sick and yeah. I might not update this weekend bc I'm going to have two days a hw and having to make up a test. Ugg school, But yeah. More updates soon!! Hope you enjoy!!!

MEGANS POV

We finally arrived to the shoreline. Me and Jessica's heads surfaced from under the water making a faint splash. "Hey Jess," her head turned to face mine "how come no one is ever at this beach?" Her head shifted from looking at me to the beach. "I don't know. Maybe its like invisible or something?" She said with a little laugh at the end. I scoffed and shook my head. "I don't think so." I shrugged them army crawled onto shore.

Jess was still crawing up onto shore. I laughed at her and she rolled her eyes. 5 minutes later she was beside me, drying off our tails. Come on, we gotta gooooo. I thought to myself. Suddenly, I felt my tail disappear, and my body changing. And me and Jessica's tails disappeared and our legs sprouted again. I stood up and brushed the sand off of me. I walked over to the rock and grabbed my board and walked through a little patch of tall trees and stepped onto the sidewalk. I waited for Jessica, and she clumsily fell through the trees. "Lets gooo!"

"Come on hurry!" I screamed behind me as we were riding down the sidewalk, trying not to be late by another minute. I rounded the street corner seeing a group of guys crowding the sidewalk. I zoomed passed them and shouted "Watch out!" and just missed hitting one of them by a quarter inch.

JESSICA'S POV

I heard Meg shout for me to catch up and I tried too. I was just about to catch up as we rounded another corner and seeing a group of guys. I saw Meg rush past them, and I tried to do the same, but me being the clumsiest person ever I failed and succeeded to bump into one of those boys. I fell to the ground and looked up, seeing the brown eyed boy staring down at me. "Oh shit sorry,sorry,sorry," He cut me off with a chuckle "Its fine." He states. I smile at him and he said "I'm Sam." he smiled and and I smiled back until I snapped out of it. "uh, sorry but I uh-need to uh, go." I say and pick up my board. "And by the way my names Jessica."

"Well Jessica, before you go can I have your number?" I looked up to see him holding out his phone in the contacts app. "Uh sure." I entered my name and number. "See ya later Sam!" I say and hop on my board, and took off. I zoomed around the corner and went down the block and reached the orphanage. I went in, and as soon as I looked to my right, there was the head of the orphanage. "Jessica! Come here!" She shouted nad i sheepishly walked over to her. "She harshly took my ripstik and said, "You have missed roll call! Go to your room, now!!"

I obeyed and climbed up the stairs. On the way to my room, I had to pass Megs room. I wonder if she got placed on her room too. I walked down the hallway and knocked on her door. I heard her groan, and the door open "What do you- oh hey Jess. Whats up?" I rolled my eyes "The old bat took my ripstik and put me under damn room arrest for the day." She laughed and said " So you gonna hang out with me or are you actually going to stay under house arrest." I sighed. "Stay under house arrest." She rolled her eyes. "Why? Stuff a couple pillows under the comforter and lock your door. She will never know." I shrugged. "Sorry, Im not good at that kind of stuff. Lets just Skype." "OK. Whatever." She said and closed the door.

See, here is the thing about me and Megan. I typically follow rules, weather its related to school or outside of school. And Megan, yeah she gets good grades, but she never shows anybody. She is naturally smart so getting good grades isn't a challenge for her. She can usually twist the rules around and always get her way. But outside of school, she never follows rules. It can be annoying but what are you gonna do.

I walked into my room and took off my shoes. I put my phone on my nightstand and put my hair into a messy bun and grabbed my Mac. I climbed into bed and logged onto Skype. I called Meg and waited for her to answer. I waited for a little while, but no one answered so I hung up. I shrugged and opened a new tab and logged into YouTube. I was about to watch a video, when I heard a knock at my door.

"Who is it?" I yelled, and she said "Its me, Megan. Hurry up and open the damn door.." I set my Mac on my bed and walked over to the door and opened it, "Get in!" I whisper yelled. She rushed in and out a duffel bag full of stuff on my bed. "What is that?" I asked. She opened the bag. "Food, my computer, phone, chargers stuff like that." She turned around and smiled. " "The head of the orphanage should be down at the adoption center until 6:30, so I figured I would come and hang out with you." I nodded then sat on my bed.

Just as I sat down, my phone buzzed. I reached over and grabbed it, Meg watching me intensely because she is usually the only one that texts me. (I know, its little sad.) I unlocked my Phone, to see a Message from unknown. It read:

Hey Jess whats up! Its Shawn btw.

I smiled. I gave him my number while Meg gave Taylor hers. Seeing the smile on my face, Meg came closer to me. "Well, who is it?" "Shawn.." I say, going back to my phone typing a reply.

Jess: Sup dork. Not doing much tbh. Wbu?

Shawn: Sounds fun.

Jess: It sucks...

Shawn: Well wanna come hang out with me and the guys. If your not too 'busy.'

I looked up from my phone. I glanced at meg to see that she was peeking over my shoulder, reading me and Shawn's whole conversation. "Meg!" "Yeah? Whats up?" I rolled my eyes. Then I heard Meg go over to her bag and start shoving everything back into it. "What are you doing?" She looked over at me, "Packing up so you can go see Shawn." "Meg, im not leaving you here." She rolled her eyes. "Your going."

Just then, my phone buzzed again.

Shawn: If Meg is with you she can come. Were all just hanging out.

"What did he say?" "That you could come too..." She smiled. "Sweet!! Ill go make my decoy under my covers. be back in a minute!!" "Mega-" She cut me off by slamming the door, running off to her room. What did I just get myself into....
