IN TIMES OF DIRE NEED, MINATOZAKI SANA TURNED TO HER CHESS BOARD.
Why she was stressed, you ask? Because she had a serious argument with her parents yet again. Earlier on during the day, a serene Saturday evening where she found herself scrolling tiredly through social media apps, her parents stormed into her room with a bone to pick.
"So I hear you've been inviting boys over," her Mom, the strictest of the two, snarled as her eyes scanned the fearful daughter with menace. Obviously Sana's brother must've stirred it up because he revelled in her misfortunes.
"He's my tutor! All I do is teach him how to cook and bake in exchange for him to help me with the core subjects," she helplessly explained the situation. Though it hardly worked because the furious expressions had not peeled off their faces.
Crossing his arms, her Dad tapped his foot on the wooden flooring, "your brother told us there was a lot of laughter coming from the kitchen. And unexplainable noises."
"Unexplainable—what?"
"What we're saying is you're not inviting him over to our house again," Sana's Mom deadpanned, "are we understood?"
"What is the problem—"
"—Sana! Are we understood?"
The second her Mom's voice raised Sana knew to drop the battle since there was no way in hell she would emerge victorious. So what she did, being the polite daughter, was bow her head and nod. She kept her head down until the sound of her parents footsteps left the room, far enough. Then she found herself grabbing the chess board to let off some steam. Playing the game was so essential that she versed herself.
For some reason they never got off her back. Since her brother became a med student in one of Seoul's most prestigious universities last year, she had an extremely terrifying and unreasonable burden placed on her shoulders. From them, her relatives and family friends. And to achieve completely opposite to him, Sana felt like the failed child. The daughter nobody wanted. Wiping a stray tear slinking down her face, she blew out some air. Things like this were tough to deal with and she hated it.
Debilitating thoughts rushed through her mind until a notification came from Instagram. Sana pressed it, apprehensive, and realized someone had direct messaged her. And when she clocked on who that person was, it sucked the life out of her.

Then and there she experienced first hand the five stages of Park Chanyeol direct messaging you. Denial, shock, a fluctuation of self confidence, blubbering and acceptance. Sana waited strategically until it hit ten minutes since he messaged so she didn't look too eager.
