"Marina!"Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
I felt my throat vibrate as a groan escaped my vocal cords. My head felt like it had been crushed by a three-hundred-pound crate and my eyelids slightly burned. I opened my eyes centimeter by centimeter, grey, and shiny blobs immediately welcoming my lack of clear vision. I reached my hand that felt extremely weak and lethargic and rubbed my crappy eyes. I felt an unexpected throat escape my dry throat and I sniffled at my suddenly runny nose. I cleared my throat and my eyes widened as I heard a deep and familiar voice filled with harsh static coming from the sub.
I looked at my surroundings and looked for the source behind the voice, "Dad?" I carefully and slowly pulled myself up with my wobbly limbs as his voice echoed through the vehicle, almost tauntingly. I sniffled again and walked forward to the control room passed the cubbies. I looked around again and saw the flash of a light coming from the side as I heard my dad's voice again. I looked at the button and saw it flicker as he spoke and I pushed the button, holding it in a shaky finger as I spoke into it almost cautiously and with a shaky voice.
"Dad?" I frowned when my voice sounded like a whimper from a wounded animal.
My palms began to sweat when there was no response and I released the button slowly, beginning to look around again when I heard his voice through the small voice box.
"Water pup? Are you alright?!"
I felt relief flood through me as I released how to use the telecommunicator, "Yes! It's me. I'm here!"
My dad's static like voice comes out relieved and tense at the same time, "Okay, sweetheart. I'm going to need you to listen to me carefully, we need to get you out of the area immediately. We'll talk about the rest later. Now, are you hurt or injured right now?"
I was about to say no when I felt the pain of my neck and head, "I got knocked out by the lurch at the speed pick up and I hit my occipital bone in my head and the top of the muscle by my spinal cord, but that's about it." I rubbed the tender area behind my neck gently, only to wince when a sting coursed through me, my head beginning to feel a bit heavy.
"Alright, I don't want you to fall asleep, do you hear me, water pup? We can't risk it if you got a concussion. Now, in the cubby labeled MK-3, there are syringes and bottles of medicine. Do you see them?"
I look towards the cubbies and slightly limp towards them and look for the cubby with shaky hands. I find the red cubby labeled MK-3 and hastily opened it. I go back to the telecommunicator and push the button, "Got it. Now what?"
"Now look for the bottle with Acetaminophen. Take out the syringe and inject the drug into your body. The lack of oxygen in the sub will mess with your body's normal response to heal itself and cause you to feel extremely lethargic. But we'll deal with one problem at a time. Do you remember how to inject the medical drugs into your body? When I taught you a couple of months ago, water pup?"
