I hear Nexee gasp and I immediately look behind Corry to look at her frantically, "What. What is it?"
Corry pulls my attention back to him, "Have you told anyone your mother's name, Marina. Anyone at all." I shook my head and I see a sense of relief pass through his yellow eyes before he turns to his sister, "We need to keep her safe and keep her name a secret." I see Nexee nod in seriousness and I feel my palms begin to sweat.
"Why is it such a big deal though, so my mom's a queen," I chuckle nervously, "big whoop." I chuckle again and see them stare at me in worry. I continue laughing until Buboo whispers not so quietly to Nexee, "Is she going to become a crazy fish or was she always like this."
I gasp out when I suddenly get hit with reality, "Holy shit my mom's a queen."
"Was." Corry states and Nexee slaps him with her hand harshly, causing his birthings to glow a blue. Which I didn't notice until now what color they were. Nexee gives him a warning look and he glares at his younger sister, "What? It's not like it's a huge secret that her mother is dead. Everyone knows Queen Anayala died when she came back after she had disappeared to Poseidon know's wh-" he turns to me. He shakes his head, "Wait a minute. Who is your father?"
I look down as I feel that familiar burning in my eyes and closing in my throat, "Alejandro Escavel. He was a marine biologist."
Corry seems to not notice the slight waver of my voice or chooses to not care, "Was? Where is he now? He might know some important information we need."
I look up at them with tears in my eyes, Nexee looks worried while Corry looks scared, "He's dead. He died when I came back on land." I begin to cry again and Nexee rushes toward me, leaning her forehead to mine as she whispers words of comfort. Buboo, being held between us in Nexee's other hand, also whispers small words of comfort from his cup.
When Nexee pulls away, settling with standing next to me, I look up at an awkwardly glowing Corry, "He said that my mother kept him in the dark most of the time when they were together. Only saying the big information, you know? The only thing he told me was me being only half-human and my mom's name. That's mostly it."
He raises a red brow, "Do you believe it was all? That he was telling the truth?"
I felt my fist clench and my anger suddenly make way, "Well I wouldn't know since he died right after he told me that information! Would you trust a dying man's words, Corry?!" I push his chest as he slightly stubbles, "Huh?! Do you?!" I push him again and he just takes my pushes. My hands stopping at my sides as they shake. I wipe away my angry tears harshly and whisper at him harshly, "Don't you ever talk bad about my father. Talk shit all you want about me but never about my father, do you understand." It wasn't a question. I felt it and he knew it. He nodded once and looks away. Nexee then suddenly rises from her chair.
She looks at Corry with an alarming look, "Did you feel that?" I turn back to Corry who closes his eyes suddenly in concentration before he suddenly looks at me.
"It's happening."
I didn't need to be told twice as I rushed out of the room and towards the main office. I could hear Corry and Nexee rushing toward me as I pushes open the door harshly and looked for the keys with haste. I scramble around frantically to find the stupid shits when Nexee quickly yells over, "What are you looking for?"
I ignore her as I move boxes and papers left and right until I finally see the familiar silver pair of keys. I quickly grab them and move over to the little slot by the door, unlocking and pushing the big red button harshly. The moment I hit it, the alarm sounds and I move back to my dad's office.
"What was that big alarm for?" I hear Corry question and I hastily grab a bag and move the irreplaceable things inside to move them inside the bunker.
I grab the pictures on his desk and some leftover research papers, "It's the alarm that signals those living here that there is something dangerous going on. Everyone is moving towards the metal bunkers at their homes now. My dad made sure everyone had access to one and created them to survive almost all earth caused catastrophes. Tornados, tsunamis, floods, everything." I look at the room one more time before I grab the set of keys by the door and signaled them to follow me.
They speed walk with me toward the end of the hall until I see the familiar silver door, opening it in a rush with the keys. It is at that moment that I feel a shake in the ground. The walls around us shake slightly and I open the door and they both rush in as I close it tightly, and signal for them to hurry, "Follow the end of the hall and there should be a small door in the bottom, it's open just unlatch and hide down the stairs. Watch your step." Corry pushes his sister to go first and he pulls me as well to go in front of him. It is at that moment that I notice something on his back - a pair of dual swords. He chose his weapon already.
Nexee screams and we look towards her, "Is it this one?" She points to the latch on the floor as the walls shake again harshly. I nodded hastily as she opens it and I quickly rush toward her, grabbing hold of Buboo from her hands so she could go down. The moment she's down there safely, I pass Buboo toward Corry as he grabs him quickly and I go down, jumping a couple of steps. As I reach down, I was about to get ready to grab Buboo from Corry when he just casually jumps inside the bunker, landing gracefully.
I chuckle, "Show off." He smirks and I almost gape at his stupidly handsome face. So he can do something else rather than a scowl. He closes the latch and I breathe down as I hear crashes from above. Nexee and Corry observe the small bunker, which just so happens to give a view of the animals here. Luckily, once the alarm signals, everything is on lockdown, even the habitats. The enclosures are made with a special type of plastic (all recycled) created by my dad. It was ready to withstand everything. Nothing can break the freakishly strong material.
Corry places a hand on the glass as the dolphins pass by. They swim around in slight anxiousness and I see Corry pass something threw the glass, like a small vibration. I then notice the dolphins sing slightly and they begin to calm down. He notices me staring and explains, "They were scared and anxious so I sent some small waves to keep them calm."
I nod, impressed, and in awe, "Can you all do that?"
Nexee nods, her curly green hair bouncing with the movement, "It's mainly a part of the creatures that are part Siren. Not all creatures can, well that we know of. Most species tend to keep to themselves and only release information they want to be released. It's a way of both maintaining peace but still having an upper hand in case of a war or a battle. We do have the Great Seven Seas Trials every seven full moons."
"What are the Great Seven Seas Trials?"
Corry sniffs as he watches the dolphins swim around peacefully, "It's a moment in which six of the seven kingdoms meet up, choose their best four warriors, which each then fight through four different trials to demonstrate dominance and power of their kingdom. One is fighting the beast chosen by vote through the six kings, second being the beast chosen by the six queens, third being a retrieval game of a certain artifact or treasure, and finally, possibly the most important, the warrior against warrior."
I nod, "And I'm guessing the seventh kingdom not invited is the one of the Mortanimas." Corry nods and I sigh.
I clap my hands and take a seat on the cushion by the habitat, "So, since we're here and we need to pass time," I cross my legs and fold my arms as I stare all three of the culprits down, "why don't you guys explain to me who Essiandra Darkwater is exactly, and why neither of you told me Elian was fucking engaged."
